What you’ll be doing...

As our Principal Member of Technical Staff (PMTS) – Commercial Data Systems (CDS), you will be a Lead Engineer for VCP Installation, Planning, DevOps, and Deployment for various Commercial Data Applications in VCP (Verizon Cloud Platform).

  • Working closely with Cross Functional Teams (i.e. Planning, Development, and Networking) and collaborating on optimal solutions for current and future VCP Projects.
  • Providing mentoring to other team members and groups.
  • Detecting and resolving issues in a proactive manner before they can impact the platform and/or customer.
  • Applying a working knowledge of “Agile Mindset” and leveraging your ability to adapt quickly to fluid environments.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in the wireless or telecommunication industry.
  • Knowledge of Cloud Computing (OpenStack, KVM, VMWare).
  • Knowledge of IP Networking, VPN’s, DNS, routing, load balancing and firewalls.

Even better if you have:

  • Master’s degree.
  • Six or more years of experience in the wireless or telecommunication industry.
  • Working and Proven Knowledge of Linux OS.
  • Strong software development (e.g. C++, Java) capability.
  • Experience with distributed storage solutions (Ceph, Swift, other).
  • Working and Proven Knowledge of Programming or Scripting Skills (Perl, Python, Ruby).
  • Experience with monitoring tools (Nagios, Ganglia, Zabbix).
  • Experience working modern configuration management tools (Puppet, Ansible).
  • Experience with networking concepts and protocols (include SDN, NFV).
  • DBMS troubleshooting skill set.
  • Made Contributions to open-source projects.
  • Working Knowledge of Capacity Planning and Performance.
  • Demonstrated excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to presents ideas in a logical and compelling manner to both small and large groups.
  • Ability to provide focus and contributions in meetings and discussions.
  • Proven problem solving skills and troubleshooting skills.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical, technical, leadership and organizational skills and is highly self-motivated.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter and work independently.
