What you’ll be doing...

You will be part of the Intelligent Edge Network (iEN) Support Team, and work as a subject matter expert for existing (Fios IP and Fios Video) and new iEN networks. You will be innovative and lead cross-functional activities with partners in Planning, Performance, and Engineering.

  • Providing expertise for new platforms being deployed globally - MSE (Multi-Service Edge), UT (Unified Transport), and NGPON2.
  • Identifying, evaluating, and driving new opportunities through an expert-level comprehension of network design, routing/switching, and the protocols used in the network stack to deliver intelligence and resiliency at the edge.
  • Embracing agile methodologies and displaying an ability to adapt.
  • Leading the effort to transform the way we do operations by promoting a DevOps mindset utilizing SDN controllers.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • CCNP or CCIE in Routing and Switching, Service Provider or Security.
  • Knowledge of IPv4, IPv6, QoS, Multicast, MPLS, L3VPN, BGP, OSPF, ISIS.
  • Knowledge of Multicast (PIM, IGMP).
  • Knowledge and experience with major router platforms – Juniper MX/SRX and Cisco NCS/ASR, Cisco Nexus and CatOS.
  • Knowledge of Ethernet switching technologies and protocols.
  • Experience with F5 Load Balancers, SSL Offloading.
  • Experience with ASA Firewall/ISE.
  • Packet Capture, Fluke NTM experience.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including on-call as needed.

Even better if you have:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Sciences, Software Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Troubleshooting experience within a data center/big enterprise environment.
  • Splunk, Python experience.
  • Deep understanding of modern router architecture including interworking of control plane and forwarding plane, switch fabric, egress queuing.
  • Experience developing or consuming REST based web services.
  • Knowledge of Network Configuration Protocol (NETCONF), REST-CONF, and YANG.
  • Hands-on experience with multiple Software Defined Networking (SDN) controller architectures (OpenDaylight, Open Contrail, Northstar).
  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience with Splunk for proactive monitoring and analysis using Next Generation telemetry, logging, reporting, dash board development, and continuous delivery technologies.
  • Ability to lead technical discussions with a group of individuals in the industry with varying technical positions.
  • Ability to work well both independently and in diverse teams.
  • Expert-level certifications such as JNCIE.
