What you’ll be doing...

As the Project Engineer you will be part of the Intelligent Edge Network (iEN) Support Team in Verizon. You will coordinate network maintenance activities and resources for multiple simultaneous critical projects and work with internal and external teams to ensure their completion. You will develop, modify and maintain database of maintenance activities for various networks in Verizon and report maintenance activity.

  • Responsible for project tracking across multiple teams under Director to provide holistic view of Maintenance activities.
  • Responsible for generating project status reports -- daily, weekly and monthly based on network (PON, FiOS IP, FiOS Video, SES, CPA, PIP, Public IP, MSE, UT, NGPON2, VZW).
  • Responsible for Scheduling MASTARS for Software and Hardware Upgrades/Network Migrations/Capacity Augmentation/ Network Expansion.
  • Responsible for Interfacing with customer account teams for various networks to provide justification of maintenance activities
  • Work with GEMC and other internal teams to update MASTARS scheduling based on customer moratorium.
  • Responsible for Maintaining and Updating Database of Network Elements with Software Release and VREPAIR Tickets for On-going Hardware & Software issues.

You will have strong analytical skills and an ability to dig into the details to identify opportunities to utilize resources intelligently. Organization, reliability and time management skills come naturally to you, and you can manipulate highly diverse issues and effectively explain complex details to non-technical customers.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Project management experience leading initiatives.
  • Tool knowledge or experience with Jira, Tableau, Excel/Sheets, Power Point/Slides, Analytical Dashboards, Google Drive etc.
  • WAN networking and troubleshooting experience.
  • Familiarity with NOC operations.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Information Systems, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • ITIL certification or willingness to acquire within 6 months.
  • Knowledge of IP Routing Protocols.
  • Knowledge and experience with WAN/LAN/Ethernet related technologies and equipment.
  • Cisco or Juniper certification.
  • Knowledge of DNS, NTP, Firewalls and ACLs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on assignments.
  • Strong aptitude for deconstructing and solving complex data or system process issues.
  • Flexibility as assignments, role, and duties shift in the company’s dynamic environment.
  • Strong written and verbal skills/SQL read/write proficiency.
  • Demonstrated strong critical thinking, problem solving abilities, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to lead people and manage technical discussions with a group of individuals in the industry with varying technical positions.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment, with minimal supervision.
