What you’ll be doing...

The Director of Competitive Intelligence will lead the competitive intelligence function for the Verizon Business group. A successful candidate will be responsible for relevant, timely, and high-value analysis and insights to a wide range of stakeholders, including C-Suite, Board of Directors, senior business leaders, and customer-facing groups.

This role will be required to:

  • Proactively develop and maintain perspective on strategic implications of key developments in the competitive landscape and industry trends
  • Develop and manage the Business Group’s quarterly and annual competitive research agenda, which requires strong, cross-enterprise consensus building, stakeholder management, and prioritization skills
  • Regularly publish, present, and communicate insights and findings to a broad audience on both a proactive and reactive basis
  • Design, compile, and communicate high-level weekly or monthly reports, including negotiating with data/material providers
  • Create competitive “what if” analysis and war gaming
  • Develop strong relationships across the company and cultivate the team’s linkages with client-facing groups, client segment and product development teams, product management teams, and the broader Verizon strategy community
  • Recognize criticality of extremely short turnaround times for most executive materials and requests; ensure all timelines are met or exceeded
  • Drive opportunities to streamline processes and create efficiencies
  • Provide executive direction and professional leadership to the team and implement developmental strategies to ensure adequate capability and capacity to deliver the governance program into the future

What we’re looking for...

  • Bachelor's degree is required; Master’s/MBA preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive work experience in competitive intelligence, consulting, internal strategy, technology, investment banking; experience in high tech/communications strongly preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel
  • Expert in PowerPoint presentation creation
  • Superior communication skills, both written and verbal, with demonstrated ability developing materials and effectively presenting to executive audiences
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness, with an intuitive understanding of leveraging personal network and navigating a matrix organization structure
  • Prior experience developing executive presentations that communicate complex business problems and solutions to VP and above
  • Comfortable facilitating meetings with executives, VP and above
  • Strong and demonstrated teaming skills
  • Comfortable identifying requirements and ensuring compliance with non-reporting, cross-functional team members of all levels, including executives
  • Ability to work effectively within time constraints
  • Ability to meet aggressive deadlines and manage multiple projects with frequent interruptions
  • Extremely well organized and self-motivated
  • High degree of comfort dealing with ambiguity in a dynamic and fast-moving work environment
  • Proven ability to work productively with small, tight-knit group
  • Comfortable taking on new technical or management skills with minimal prep in exceedingly short time
  • Strong interest/passion for the technology services industry and personally and professionally aligned with Verizon’s vision and value
