What you’ll be doing...

  • Coordinate the installation of network, power, transport, and services necessary to support new installations and growth of Verizon Wireless Network Equipment.
    • Network elements include, but are not limited to: Fujitsu, Nokia & Ericsson Transport equipment, Alarm monitoring equipment, Power Plants, Batteries, HVAC & Commercial AC equipment growth.
  • Provide Construction & Equipment engineering support for the above platforms and services to include: implementation of Verizon Standards for CRAN facilities, Hub Hardening, A&E design reviews, wiring diagrams, cross connect information, coordination of MOP approvals, asset tracking and transfer, depreciation, decommissioning and de-installation of equipment.
  • Provide Transport equipment engineering support to include: Front-end view design, wiring diagrams, cross-connect information, network connectivity, etc.
  • Maintain physical records for CRAN Hubs (CAD floor plans, power, Granite (XNG) documentation, fiber & copper cable run lists).
  • Effectively manage equipment installation vendors and Dark Fiber providers to obtain quotes, negotiate pricing, and ensure their products and services meet Verizon Wireless’ requirements and standards.
  • Provide power/grounding and HVAC engineering designs for all major Transport Hubs. Work with vendors to ensure that projects are deployed according to the design and standards, including periodic on-site visits to inspect the quality of the installations and work progress and monitor follow-up implementation.
  • Develop and manage Regional-level capital and expense budgets relating to CRAN Transport equipment, power/grounding/HVAC, structural needs and fiber backhaul.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in telecommunications.
  • Knowledge of the following platforms and/or technologies: ALU Hardware: SR7, SR-1, SAR-8; Fujitsu Hardware: FW9500, FW4100; Ciena Hardware: Ciena 6500.
  • Knowledge of DWDM and CWDM.
  • Networking experience to include Layer-1, Layer-2 & Layer-3 principles.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree in Telecommunications or Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in telecommunications with a focus on Transport network.
  • Experience in critical facility design, construction and project management with specific knowledge of the AC and DC power systems.
  • Experience with EBH & CPRI technologies.
  • Experience in mission critical facility design, construction, and project management with knowledge and understanding of: mechanical, electrical, structural, and civil engineering design principles.
  • Advanced skills in Project planning & management, construction management.
  • Experience with Galaxy, Lorain, AC/UPS, DC distribution systems.
  • Experience with the Telcordia Granite Inventory (formerly Xpercom/Xng) circuit inventory system.
  • Proficiency in office computer applications: Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Excellent analytic, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Decision making skills.
  • Ability to balance technical and business requirements.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and to effectively handle challenging situations.
  • Ability to be flexible and creative.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and support night or weekend work as needed.
