What you’ll be doing...

You will be part of the Mobile Private Network (MPN) team, leading a network team focused on development of customer engineering and also operational activities to support innovative products and solutions for Enterprises, Wholesale, and Public Safety Core customer base. You will lead projects that require cross-functional activities with planning, performance, operations, and various other VZ teams to further increase efficiency and achieve scale through various network automation solutions.

  • You will be responsible for supporting end to end operations of the Verizon Private Network; including physical and virtual network elements.
  • You and the team will serves as an internal tier 2 customer escalation point to the rest of the network and non-network organizations.
  • You will lead technical deep dive discussions on unresolved customer issues through collaboration with first line support organization like NOC, NRB, Wireless Business Group, and etc.
  • Develops resolutions to complex problems that require the frequent use of creativity.
  • Must have the ability to clearly communicate ideas and lead bridges while resolving ongoing crisis situation.
  • Focus on high availability, resiliency, security, efficiency, and operational supportability.
  • Create playbooks and complete network resiliency drills to ensure minimal MTTR during production network incidents.
  • Lead collaboration with various network engineering teams on projects to migrate / turn up new services and complex customer solutions based on Sales Engineering requirements.
  • Drive development of automated workflows for MPN customer base to support lifecycle and migration activities to enable new products and services initiative.
  • Performance KPI integration and monitoring for both customers and infrastructure.
  • Is accountable for the project results, summarizing the project status and documentation.
  • Embracing agile methodologies and demonstrating an aptitude to adapt.
  • Leading the effort to transform the way we do operations by leveraging automation tools to develop scalable workflows.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with designing, engineering, or operating service provider networks.
  • Experience with network automation tools such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Python, NETCONF, YANG, and etc.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences, Software Engineering, or Electrical Engineering or four or more years of work experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of 3GPP standards and protocols: LTE, TCP/IP, DIAMETER and SIP.
  • In-depth knowledge of IMS and LTE call flows, interfaces, protocols and wireless technologies.
  • Demonstrated technical understanding of complex MPLS networks, mobility gateway, routers, Ethernet switches, firewalls, load balancers, transport infrastructure, wireless network infrastructure, VXLAN network architecture.
  • Demonstrated strong technical understanding of Verizon data network architecture - including Mobile Private Network 3G and 4G design for both Bare Metal and VCP Edge environments.
  • Working knowledge of virtualized 3GPP Mobile Packet Core network applications and related components, such as OpenStack, Load balancer, Firewalls.
  • Working knowledge of VNF Orchestrator like HP NFV Director.
  • Managed high expectations from multiple directions with the proven ability to focus team members on objectives.
  • Demonstrated track record of building & maintaining relationships with upstream, downstream, and peer teams.
  • Demonstrated capability to communicate high level strategy & technical details.
  • Experience managing local and remote staff.
  • Demonstrated strong technical project management experience & interpersonal skills. Familiar with the agile process, Kanban boards and Jira.
  • Experience with SDN, NFV, OpenStack.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, with results-oriented focus.
  • Excellent communications, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
