What you’ll be doing...

You’ll join our Global Network & Technology (GN&T) Security Planning organization to lead the Domain SME team responsible for the planning of security-focused systems (e.g., firewalls) and developing end-to-end security architectures and roadmaps for all security domains (e.g., security engineering, IAM, network/asset/data security, software development, assessment, testing, and operations). The team will also support architecture and roadmap development for key systems such 4G/5G networks, intelligent Edge Network (iEN), IoT networks and devices, and big data/cloud. You will provide guidance to the team’s security experts developing these products and also develop these products for select security domains.

  • Work in a fast-paced environment focused on planning and managing security risk for our most critical systems.
  • Ensure the team delivers results related to cost, methods, and employees.
  • Guide the Domain SME team to produce architectures, roadmaps, and system requirements that drive decisions and recommendations to effectively manage security risks.
  • Communicate and translate functional/operational goals into team goals and manage the implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Interact with the engineers building and operating key systems, security engineering and operations teams, and the Verizon CISO organization to ensure recommendations address operational considerations.
  • Support the System SME team in GN&T Security Planning to ensure architectures and roadmaps for key systems account for all security domain considerations.
  • Ensure the team collaborates with vendors and the broader security community to stay up to speed on the latest security developments and ensure their future capabilities align with business needs.
  • Drive objectives, technical work, and timelines of security architectures, roadmaps, and requirements for security domains across the company.
  • Develop security architectures, roadmaps, and requirements for select security domains.
  • Build relationships with program, engineering, operations, security, and CISO teams to understand how to develop plans that effectively manage security risks.
  • Communicate progress and findings, and ensure successful handoff of deliverables to program and operational teams.
  • Build domain knowledge of Verizon’s environment to understand long-term risk areas that will develop as the systems evolve.
  • Recruit, train, and grow the System Security team and its capabilities.
