What you’ll be doing...

Verizon Smart Communities team is seeking to hire a Product Manager for Traffic Data Solutions. In this strategic role, the candidate will have autonomy in developing and driving the Traffic Data solutions product strategy. This candidate will have transportation industry experience and be an expert in data analytics applications serving the traffic segment. This person will serve as a subject matter expert on product features and functionality. You will work closely with the product, engineering, and partner teams as well as other internal and external stakeholders to research, define, plan and execute product enhancements, features, and new products.

  • Function as Product Owner in the agile/SCRUM software development process throughout the product life cycle.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to collect feedback; identifying opportunities for improvements and enhancements to our suite of products.
  • Understand the marketplace, competitive environment, and own the product line P&L developing the business case to support your product.
  • Provide day-to-day product guidance, write user stories, specifying requirements and acceptance criteria with detail and clarity sufficient for implementation and testing.
  • Identify key product stakeholders; elicit input and develop a consensus around the definition and relative priority of each story in the backlog; contain scope appropriately, while managing stakeholder expectations.
  • Work with user experience (UX) designers to create a compelling user experience around each story, expressed through wireframes, mock-ups or prototypes.
  • Work with development engineering teams to communicate the product vision, clarify use cases and requirements, resolve issues arising during development, and accept stories as they are completed.
  • Monitor and evaluate key performance indicators to help drive product performance.
  • Collaborate with other functions (marketing, business development, sales, operations, customer services, and professional services) in the development product positioning, go-to-market strategies, and pre- and post-sales activities related to the product needed to successfully sell, implement and service the product.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years work experience
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Economics, Psychology, Business or related field; ideally your MBA.
  • Eight or more years of experience in product management or engineering with an emphasis on data analytics and data science.
  • Experience managing transportation product targeted toward major cities, counties, and departments of transportation, as well as experience working with government customers.
  • Familiarity with a wide variety of transportation and urban data sets relevant to multimodal performance management, including emerging data sets such as connected vehicle data.
  • Familiarity with mobility as a service offering, transportation-as-a-service or shared mobility topics.
  • Strong understanding of techniques in data science (machine learning algorithms, etc.) and ability to visualize data in the best way possible.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiating, and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to identify and appreciate good products and features.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to be a self-starter and proactive.
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves to get things done, taking on additional responsibilities to ensure success.
