What you’ll be doing...

You will be responsible for managing approximately 7-8 direct reports within the Potomac regions in multiple site locations to ensure departmental objectives are met, while providing leadership and strategic direction to maintain the fleet at an optimal level.

  • Develop a leadership team focused on building a culture of safety, which is conducive to adopting and maintaining safe approaches and work habits.
  • Implement a formal talent management plan to enable Supervisors to grow and develop skills associated with managing their garage facilities as competitive businesses.
  • Identify and eliminate threats to the successful timely implementation of Fleet initiatives.
  • Serve as liaison with numerous departments to facilitate the resolution of issues and concerns while ensuring compliance with budgets and corporate policies.
  • Develop and implement industry best practices and procedures at the regional garage facilities to achieve Fleet Services goals and customer satisfaction.
  • Drive accountability for successful implementation of Fleet recommendations through a wide variety of teams including individual business units.
  • Ensure that all Federal, State, and Local EPA, DOT, ANSI, OSHA and Safety laws and regulations concerning fleet operations are adhered to.
  • Ensure individual department goals are in alignment with project and company direction through continuous proactive communication.
  • Enforce administration standards and vehicle operating policies.
  • Prepare periodic reports on operating costs.
  • Manage the maintenance, repair, replacement, and disposal of vehicles.
  • Coordinate regional vehicle/equipment replacement, vehicle blanket and salvage activities.
  • Direct the activities of the Regional Fleet Services operations including vehicle acquisitions, service, maintenance and repair, vehicle/equipment salvage and contractor services.
  • Perform on-going management of interdepartmental interfaces and integrate administrative functions to support and ensure departmental goals/objectives are met.
  • Analyze target audience, organize writing and clearly articulate goals/action items to others.
  • Support organizational and process related change management across teams and internal organizations.
  • Work closely with various departments to support due-diligence activities and support or lead various projects as required.
  • Communicate initiatives across the enterprise and leverage this awareness to build support and ensure their effectiveness.
  • Act as a catalyst for the sharing and implementation of best practices resulting from specific Fleet initiatives.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Customer Service/Client Management experience.
  • Program Management experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Five or more years of Supervisory experience.
  • Five or more years of Customer Service/Client Management experience.
  • Ability to develop presentations and summaries of evaluations/recommendations for senior management.
  • Effective communication skills at all levels of the organization ranging from front-line employees to senior management.
  • Self-starter and results oriented mentality with the ability to learn and adapt quickly.
  • Strong sense of urgency, and a proactive and flexible approach.
  • Proficiency in managing Budgets to meet or exceed targets.
  • Ability to adapt skills and knowledge to meet the needs of the business and prioritize effectively.
  • Commitment to deliver exceptional customer support with high level of professionalism and responsiveness.
  • Four or more years of automotive experience in an administrative capacity, including two years of supervisory experience in automotive maintenance and repair and/or vehicular fleet operations.
  • Experience working in a union environment.
  • Inventory techniques/management experience.
  • Knowledge of procurement specification procedures.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of personnel management.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods of organizational management.
  • Working knowledge of Verizon practices, procedures, equipment, tools, materials, and supplies used in motor vehicle fleet acquisition, utilization, maintenance, repair, and disposition.
  • Ability to lead, work with and motivate cross-functional teams.
  • Collaborative, goal-oriented negotiation techniques and comprehensive analytical knowledge.
  • Strategic and analytical thinking skills with the ability to collect and analyze data to make appropriate process decisions/recommendations.
