What you’ll be doing...

The Data Repair Engineer will troubleshoot and drive service restoration of Local, State, Federal Government and Commercial circuits. The position, located in Cary, NC, will work with a team of professionals who are proficient with providing support, initial triage, isolation, technical support and escalations toward prompt resolutions in a 24x7 environment under the ITIL v3 framework. This engineer will reactively respond to customer service impacting issues and take all necessary measures to restore service as quickly as possible. The engineer will ensure the customer is fully and frequently updated, the incident is promptly investigated, actions are recorded, and the proper resources are engaged for immediate resolution. A high focus on quality and reduction of repeat incidents is critical.

  • Troubleshoot, Isolate and Drive Repairs of Data Circuits.
  • Provide a high level of service to our customers.
  • Promote a positive team environment among peers and with managers across all functional areas.
  • Perform end-to-end trouble isolation and repair on physical and logical layer services.
  • Work with internal and external support teams, as well as with the account and program management teams to facilitate fault isolation and repair efforts to meet established baseline objectives.

What we’re looking for...

You are an engineer with a thorough understanding of Data Networks and the technologies employed. You will have very strong analytical skills and an ability to dig into the details to isolate and fix the root cause of the problem. You are organized, detail oriented, team centric, and have a keen sense of urgency in resolving problems, all while maintaining a focus on the customer at all times. You have the ability to perform at a high level in a fast-paced environment.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Willingness to work all Shifts, holidays and weekends in a 24x7 Network Operation Center environment.
  • Experience in Telecommunications Repair.
  • Experience in Networking.
  • A U.S. government issued security clearance, or the eligibility to obtain one.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • ITIL v3 Certification.
  • Experience in a Center Based Environment remotely repairing customer circuits.
  • Experience with TL1.
  • Experience with DXC and Optical Network equipment.
  • Experience working in a customer facing role resolving operational problems.
  • LAN/WAN networking experience.
  • Ethernet Circuit Knowledge.
  • CCENT or CCNA Certification.
  • Knowledge of the following technologies (Cisco, Juniper, IP Telephony, Data Transport).
  • Hands-on experience in BERT or RFC testing.
