The Engineer IV-E911 Program Management employee will be responsible for interfacing with and being the primary point of contact with Engineers in the local markets and public safety to deploy, maintain and ensure a continual high service quality level of 911 voice and text services. For new E911 service requests from public safety, the Engineer IV will project manage our E911 service vendors, Engineers in the local markets and the requesting Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP), along with its vendors, to ensure the service deployment occurs within the FCC-mandated timeline. This will require the Engineer IV to identify and closely manage all E911 milestones and required timelines for timely deployments. In addition, the Engineer IV will ensure that required 911 field testing is completed timely and successfully.

In addition, the Engineer IV will be responsible for working closely with assigned Verizon Wireless local markets to identify post E911 service deployment activity and ensure that all E911 post-deployment checklist items are completed prior to network changes, including ensuring that 911 data integrity is maintained.

The Engineer IV will also be responsible for project managing internal/external resources and timelines for PSAP changes that require re-deployment of all or a portion of Verizon’s 911 service delivery network and systems. These projects include PSAPs transitioning to NG911 systems, changing point of interface configurations, changing 911 service providers, and PSAP consolidations.

Other responsibilities include on-going PSAP management, managing multiple field testers simultaneously for wide scale testing projects, troubleshooting and investigations of identified 911 service or location delivery issues, 911 vendor platform reliability, data integrity of 911 internal/external databases, 911 call default investigations, and pANI management/reporting.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or five or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Five or more years of wireless telecommunications experience.
  • Three or more years of experience in managing multiple complex projects and cross functional teams to defined timelines and milestones.
  • Excellent understanding of current wireless network technologies and network engineering functions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to operate well in a dynamic environment and exercise sound judgment.
  • Advanced PC skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Capability to effectively communicate at all levels of the business in both written and verbal forms.
  • Capability to be adaptive to change, open to different viewpoints, ability to innovate.
