What you’ll be doing...

As a member of the Organizational Effectiveness and Change Management Center of Excellence, you will be part of a team responsible for supporting a top priority strategic organization change; your work will involve diagnosing current state, stakeholder alignment, future state design and development, transformation planning and change management/execution activities across key Verizon businesses and functions. As a sought after business partner and “truth teller”, you will apply creative solutions to ignite the potential of leaders and teams to build the future faster. You will partner with human resource and business transformation leaders to diagnose and assess organizational gaps and determine appropriate interventions. You will demonstrate:

Business and Executive Partnering

  • Rapidly assimilate and learn the business; build/manage relationships with team members and key stakeholders to ensure alignment of strategy and organization effectiveness; grow and evolve the support provided.
  • Establish and maintain role of trusted advisor to leaders with different styles and approaches, being a truth-teller leveraging data

Organization and Structure Design

  • Design and implement operating models that align organizations with strategic objectives
  • Utilize models, tools and processes (STAR, 7S, etc.) to improve organization effectiveness – including organization structure, roles and responsibilities, job redesign, job descriptions, and skills assessments
  • Propose new and alternate organization structures (and associated change management plans) which align with the organization’s strategic goals; evaluate their effectiveness

Intergroup and Team Intervention

  • Identify and improve areas of intersection between teams or groups
  • Select and/or design and develop appropriate interventions i.e. team development, conflict management, group norms, vision and goal alignment, role clarification, problem solving and decision-making process improvements

Culture Change

  • Assess organization culture dynamics
  • Design culture change plans and develop change activities to meet culture alignment objectives
  • Collaborate with and coach business leaders to effectively lead and support change efforts

Change Enablement & Commitment

  • Develop and implement change management strategy and plan to support initiatives through deployment of VZ Change Methodology. Initiatives may include culture shift, restructuring, work transitions, and M&A
  • Regularly evaluate risks; design, develop and deliver solutions to address
  • Enable stakeholder engagement, leadership alignment, impact analysis, communications, business
  • readiness, deployment, and adoption measurement.
  • Build capabilities in partners and clients to sustain change management and organization effectiveness practices.

You are first and foremost, a business leader with practical and comprehensive stories and lessons learned from change management, organization design and development interventions you have been a part of. You love tools, models, frameworks and methods in change management, org design, quality, productivity, but your approach is not about the tool – it is about the client and the solution.

Your ability to collect, assimilate and analyze data to quickly get to the heart of the business problem is one of your claims to fame. You leverage your strong project management and analytic skills to make sure we don’t miss a beat or a deadline, making sense of complex information with ease. Running to the challenge, you use your excellent facilitation and presentation skills to communicate clearly and bring the people and organization(s) you are working with to where they need to go. A learner at heart, you are intellectually curious and you leverage your inability to be satisfied with the status quo to find new ways to improve, which includes continually coaching others, including yourself, to always be at their best. You thrive equally in leading interventions as you do adopting others proven best practices and collaborating with others to get the job done, as comfortable in the retail stores as you are in the boardroom.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelors degree in business or related field
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience
  • Experience working within a large, complicated organization

Even better if you have:

  • Advanced degree in Business, Organization Development, Industrial/Organizational Psychology
  • Multi-industry experience
  • 10 years’ experience in organization development/effectiveness, change management/leadership, or related fields
  • Consulting background
  • Six sigma green belt certification
