What you’ll be doing...

As the Product Owner for Virtual Network Services, your day-to-day will be spent being a leader for the Product development, Enablement and complete go to market strategy for Verizon’s next generation services and solutions. Being part of the Virtual Network Services team, your core focus is also to drive rapid innovation, deliver products to multiple global markets with scale and efficiency, while improving customer experience processes for our Virtual Network Services portfolio. You will be required to enable new Verizon products services as well as creating/improving processes for both new and existing customers.

  • Products Supported: Verizon Virtual Network Services Portfolio – include software defined routing, switching, wireless LAN and security services. Your key focus will be within the Virtual Network Services building an integrated service across the various enterprise network domains and ensuring best in breed solution to facilitate a software defined network. Here you are expected to have exceptional knowledge and understanding of the current trends in SDN and NFV and good understanding of Orchestration and Service Assurance to ensure a smooth transition for our customers from dedicated purpose built hardware to white box virtual technology.
  • As the Product lead you are expected to have the necessary people skills to develop virtual tiger teams and coordinate Proof of Concept designs across many internal and external organizations.
  • Financial Oversight: Responsible for the Product financial health including revenue, cost management, business case creation, capital/expense tracking, and bookings forecasts
  • Route to Market Oversight: Drive growth across all of Verizon’s core business – VES, VBM, VPS (including Resellers/Agents)
  • Governance and Reporting: Including executive-level reporting
  • Legal and Compliance Tracking/Engagement
  • Product Enablement Team: Responsibilities of the team members include -
    • VES and VRD Consumption: Team is responsible for the enablement of catalog functionality for new services
    • Project Management: Team organizes iteration planning, deliverable review, and retrospective meetings. Captures and tracks open questions and issues and sees them through to resolution. Ensures tasks are fully carved out for user stories.
    • Excellent presentation building skills to provide relevant Marketing collateral to the Business and Sales.
    • Business Requirements: Gathers information from appropriate parties to develop epics, features, user stories, use cases, acceptance test criteria, etc.
    • Methods and Procedures: Documenting M&Ps for both new and existing Verizon Security Services products
    • Voice of Customer/Journey Mapping: Define and document the voice of customer journey map
    • Development: Manage the on-going UX/CX requirements for USP

Stakeholder Management: Manage stakeholder engagement and communication with the following organizations (Sales, Marketing, Finance, Legal, IT, Development, Engineering)

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in product management/development, finance, and hardware/software infrastructure.. You’ll need to understand current trends in SDN/NFV and have a good grasp of technologies associated with virtualization and SDN in the NFV space today. You will need to understand and have a good grasp of Orchestration, Openstack and other VIMs and how it relates to virtual deployments and help determine where Verizon’s uCPE product strategy sits in this space. You will be responsible for leading Verizon’s next generation market leading product, so a strong view of up and coming technologies is essential including the adoption of container based NFV workloads and container orchestration systems such as Kubernertes.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Master’s degree (MBA preferred)
  • Eight or more years of relevant work experience
  • Product Management/Product Development Experience (Hardware and Network)
  • Experience in developing business cases and managing a P&L
  • Three or more years of people leadership
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills

Even better if you have:

  • Experience presenting to executive leadership teams internally and to external customers.
  • Project Management Experience: PMP (recommended)
  • Experience with Agile Product Development
  • Experience with documenting M&Ps for OSS/BSS frameworks
  • Collaborative, positive attitude with desire to work in a demanding, fast paced, exciting and dynamic environment.
  • Exceptional problem solving skills with unrelenting focus on practical business implications.
  • Vendor management and negotiation skills and most importantly of all, a key team player with a strong can do attitude.
  • Technical certifications in SDN and NFV.
