What you’ll be doing...

As a people manager in the Product Development team, your role will be developing and implementing the International network access product strategy throughout the product lifecycle together with your team. The lifecycle encompasses requirements gathering, creating and delivering product roadmaps, assisting during the product development phase, through to the transition from development to sales and support.

The role includes the necessary commercial management to ensure that products are developed effectively and adding value. You will need to be aware of external influencing factors such as market trends and product competition. You must have vision in your domain, be seen as the product champion, and keep the customer at the center of it all.

As the access products (Ethernet, Broadband, wireless, etc.) are the basis for all other services running over the network, this is a highly visible role where you will need to communicate with and manage stakeholders both internally and externally, and facilitate and mediate as the product owner adding strong direction.

  • Drive the talent and development agenda in your team, keeping your team members engaged by providing them the right challenges and opportunities.
  • Lead your team and enable them to drive the access agenda with you.
  • Adhere to the requirements of the organizational people related agenda and grow your team’s performance and potential by focusing on and investing in the team’s culture, engagement and needs.
  • Own all aspects of product strategy including research, roadmap creation and delivery.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team on pricing, proposition and go to market strategy.
  • Ensure the product strategy is driven by commercial demand and justify the strategy with a gap analysis.
  • Develop business cases for each new product/product enhancement to demonstrate viability of the product/capability, including target pricing and margin, addressable and realizable market, SWOT analysis, estimated development, implementation and support costs, etc.
  • Work with the pricing teams to ensure pricing models for all products in your portfolio are appropriate for the segments and geographies into which these products are to be sold.
  • Continuously evaluate and prioritize requirements from both existing and prospective new markets.
  • Work in cross functional teams across the business to ensure alignment with the product and wider business strategy.
  • Research and understand competitor offerings in our marketplaces and how we compete successfully against these.
  • Help develop core product positioning messages and product value propositions that differentiate our products in the market.
  • Ensure the dependencies from and for other product portfolios are understood, documented and taken into account in the developments across all concerned product portfolios.
  • Using the companywide adopted ‘Lean Business Agility (LBA)’ development methodology, drive the development of standard products and features to ensure they meet expectations and road maps.
  • Obtain necessary stakeholder engagement for successful transition from “Opportunity Assessment” over “Product Discovery” into “Product Development.”
  • Continuously refine the backlog with the IT team(s) to convert the problems on the backlog into user stories
  • Support the IT team(s) during each sprint to clarify requirements, make priority calls, review test plans and review development work.
  • Participate in LBA rituals: grooming calls, sprint review, sprint planning, etc.
  • Ensure the delivery of quality product(s) with the correctly specified features, on time in conjunction with the rest of the development and QA teams.
  • Work with the marketing team to produce marketing plans/ strategy and produce collateral for such products for internal/external use.
  • Work with customer account teams on RFP’s requiring non-standard solutions.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience.
  • Experience with Software Defined Networking and knowledge of virtualization techniques.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Experience working in a similar role in an IServices or software company.
  • Sound knowledge of network and IT services, including software, hardware, networks & telecoms, outsource/managed services.
  • Ability to facilitate cross departmental discussions for the product roadmap, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work to tight times scales, and identify and schedule activities and resources in order to meet objectives.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels with strong interpersonal and partnership management skills. Ability to influence all project members and stakeholders.
  • Clear vision of how technology is evolving in key business areas & what differentiates products/solutions.
  • Ability to produce clear and logical product documentation, such as product catalogues, on-line content (both internal and customer facing), etc.
  • Experience working within an Agile development structure.
  • Team player mentality with the ability to work well with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • Ability to balance conflicting priorities.
  • Planning, organization, and scheduling skills.
  • Experience working with a distributed development team.
  • Experience working within a customer centric role and strong analytic and presentation skills.
