What you’ll be doing...

In this position, you will specifically be responsible for the technologies and planning that support Verizon 911 products, services and compliance. You will work in a leadership role with internal technology stakeholder groups as well as industry technology and standards organizations to address Verizon’s 911 technology needs today and associated strategic plans to best position Verizon for the future. Utilizing your strong leadership abilities, exemplary communication skills and innovative mindset, you will lead cross-functional activities with partners in Planning, Development, IT, Operations, and Engineering.

You will serve as a 911 technology and compliance consultant to Verizon Sales and Product groups to confirm 911 solutions and compliance is in place to support each product or solution. You will be engaged as a SME / point of escalation where 911 service delivery incidents may occur, i.e. Network Outage, Database failures, Verizon 911 third party vendor issues.

  • Leading Verizon’s technological evolution of E911 to NG911 / i3, the complete transformation from MSAG to LIS and TDM to SIP.
  • Working with Sourcing to manage third party Vendor Contracts supporting 911 in different capacities, ILEC as a 911 Service Provider, OSP compliance using 911 vendor for fixed vs Nomadic services.
  • Providing leadership, 911 network infrastructure and location database expertise for the operational support and service delivery of third party Vendors for 911 including monthly Service Level Agreement calls with 911 Vendor.
  • Supporting operations as a SME / point of escalation for troubleshooting and development of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for 911 impacting incidents.
  • Providing on-call support, including weekends as necessary.
  • Developing 3+ year technology strategy view on 911 / NG911 infrastructure.
  • Developing excellent working relationships with Network Planning, Product Development, IT, Network Operations, Engineering and Operations.
  • Partnering with internal organizations to author technical requirements and standards forum contributions.
  • Independently managing complex technical projects, including forming leading industry standard meeting and forums, assessing start-up companies, and partnering with internal organizations to finalize Core architecture.
  • Participating and leading the evolution and next generation related industry standard meetings and forums (NENA, APCO, ATIS/ESIF…) for Verizon. Evaluating industry standards bodies contributions, driving Verizon positions and alignment with operators and vendors.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Engineering, or IT.
  • Five or more years of multidisciplinary leadership experience and business acumen in the telecommunication industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of 911 evolution from E9-1-1 to NG911 i3.
  • Understanding of 911 call flows in relation to ALI database / Selective Router.
  • Familiarity with network equipment/configurations and systems, as well as general IT network concepts.
  • Ability to work well both independently and in diverse teams either as a SME contributor or team leader.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, experience managing complex processes and the ability to handle multiple work assignments simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated strong critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including an ability to communicate complex information effectively at all levels.
  • Ability to lead technical discussions with a diverse group of individuals with varying technical positions.
  • VoIP networking technologies and trends expertise
  • Working knowledge of FCC 2005 Mandate for VoIP 9-1-1 associated with Fixed, Foreign Exchange and Nomadic subscriber services.
  • Established track record of supervising complex processes and driving results.
  • IT operations/Agile experience.
  • Solid negotiation skills, and strong attention to detail.
  • Wireline, Wireless Telecommunications, Network and IT industry experience (preferred from large internet, telecom, and cloud companies).
  • Experience with assessing and leading current Verizon technologies, suppliers, challenges and new emerging architectures and network concepts needed to drive transformation in a Tier 1 carrier network.
  • Understanding of the competitive landscape and demonstrated a firm understanding of the upcoming technology marketplace.
  • Experience creating visibly pleasing, crisp, and creative presentations.
