What we are looking to achieve?

Verizon’s Supply Chain organization is building a best-in-class, Global Strategic Sourcing Centre of Excellence based in Dublin.

We wish to attract the biggest-thinking minds in the international strategic sourcing industry, to create, build and run a team that sets the benchmark across the globe, whilst driving outstanding shareholder value for Verizon. As a Principal Sourcing Specialist, you will be part of a team that will control and manage one of the largest annual technology spends in the world.

What we need you to execute on:

  • Lead role in supporting Verizon's cost savings and revenue generation business goals through the sourcing process for large spend category areas.
  • Drive all aspects of complex strategic sourcing process, including but not limited to, taking lead on contract negotiations of business and pricing terms and conditions, conducting research and providing benchmark data on pricing and/or other key terms.
    • Process large amounts of and varying types of data to extrapolate favorable conclusions.
  • Work with Business Partners to resolve supplier related business issues.
    • Invoicing / payment issues.
    • Contract language interpretation / clarification.
    • Disputes over contract pricing (i.e. Units / Models).
  • Maximize Verizon's purchasing power to achieve a lower cost while mitigating risk.
    • Take a lead role and simultaneously work with and lead multiple teams to guide selections of low-cost and highly technically qualified Suppliers to provide needed services.
  • Stay current with industry trends for assigned category area, and becomes a Trusted Advisor to our Business Partners.
  • Present new products, technologies and services from existing or new suppliers to clients.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Credentials from Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS), International Association for Contract & Commercial Management (IACCM) or Irish Institute of Purchasing & Materials Management (IIPMM).
  • Experience in Strategic Sourcing, ideally in the technology areas such as Network Equipment and Infrastructure, Software Licensing, Call Center Services, Cloud, Contracted Labour, etc.
  • Ability to solve complex problems to ensure business and financial issues result in sound decisions.
  • Experience in project management in complex multi-project and multi-geography environment.
  • Experience as a telecommunications installer and / or engineer.
  • PMP or Prince 2 experience.
  • Lean Six Sigma experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and client service skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite applications (including PowerPoint, Excel and Word) – MS Access a plus.
  • Installation and / or Engineering background in the following areas:
    • Transport elements: ROADM, WDM, routers, multiplexing and similar Network Elements.
    • Knowledge / experience of primary and secondary DC Power systems: PDBs, BDFBs, cabling requirements, batteries, rectifiers, etc.
    • Fiber optics: Cabling and applications.
    • Working knowledge of telecommunications standards (i.e. Telcordia GR documents), including engineering specifications, drawings and layouts.
    • Strong familiarity with installation procedures, practices and standards.
