What you’ll be doing...

This is an exciting opportunity to join Verizon's Socially Responsible Business team which is accountable for driving sustainable and responsible business practices at the intersection of economic, environmental and societal need across the entire portfolio of Verizon companies including Verizon Media Group. The individual must be able to join a rapidly changing organization, moving from a philanthropy group to a team focused on driving societal impact in alignment with the financial mission and goals of both Verizon Media Group and its parent company, Verizon. This requires an individual with strong innovation, problem-solving, program development, and end-to-end project management skills, as well as a base-level understanding of financial measurements..


  • The ideal candidate will be able to identify societal issues and create programs that will use Verizon Media Group's and Verizon's assets to address societal problems, while building partnerships and collaborative relationships at the highest level with NGOs and 501c3s for real-world execution.
  • In addition, the candidate will monitor program progress by being on-the-ground with the work to ensure quality execution of his/her vision, and make real-time adjustments as needed, and will assess the impact of the work through formal annual reviews.
  • The individuals must have the financial aptitude to manage a zero-based budgeting process, daily management of his/her budget associated with their work, and an annual Return on Investment approach, which allows him/her to scale programs as cost-effectively as possible.
  • This individual will be responsible for working collaboratively across the enterprise (both within Verizon Media Group and Verizon) to identify assets that can be utilized in the programmatic work.
  • Serve as member of a core team that executes an aligned employee engagement strategy across the entire Verizon Media Group and Verizon enterprise.
  • The individual will develop and oversee the execution of employee engagement work and volunteerism that strategically aligns with their programmatic initiatives, and is designed to further the goals of the organization.
  • Responsible for positioning the talent, brands and resources of the company to make positive impact in the world, helping to drive and execute our employee engagement strategy by inspiring employees through meaningful opportunities, employee directed volunteer efforts, and skills based volunteering.
  • Build and empower a network of employees across Verizon and Verizon Media Group to champion and lead CSR efforts in their local offices
  • Accountable for co-creating and monitoring success metrics associated with the programmatic work that is built across three components - short-term impacts (within first year),mid-term impacts (12 to 18 months) and long-term impacts (19 months and beyond).
  • On-the-ground monitoring and engagement of work is aligned against success metrics.
  • Create and execute upon a framework for engaging all of Verizon Media Group's Brands in both societal impact work as well as brand-specific philanthropic work.
  • Support the strategic alignment of Verizon Media Group’s Brand Counsel, a newly-formed group comprised of Verizon Media Group’s brands across the company, focused on embedding societal impact though their platforms and directly with their consumers and members. Develop a framework to monitor, measure and track performance of key results.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Market Research, or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • Demonstrated success and experience developing and implementing strategic global CSR programs in a corporate environment including program development, partner assessment, monitoring and evaluation, volunteer management, employee engagement and culture initiatives
  • Excellent presentation and strong written and communications skills
  • Exceptional project management skills and the ability to deliver effective results
  • Technology Skills – Strong PowerPoint skills, Office suite
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong analytical skills and experience using data to drive recommendations to senior management.
  • Team oriented, collaborative, and flexible.
  • Strategic thinker able to identify and champion new ideas and approaches.
  • Ability to facilitate meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Background in events management, PR, social media a plus.
  • Familiarity with volunteer software management platforms such as Benevity or Cyber Grants,
  • Willingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time
