What you’ll be doing...

You’ll join our IT Application Security team responsible for Security Tools Development. You will work on developing highly scalable systems using Java/J2EE technologies. The system will be deployed and maintained using Docker Images across an AWS cluster. You will be responsible for developing tools that provide self-service support and automation of data loss prevention, security testing/vulnerability management, and metrics and reporting, and enable DevSecOps automation of core security tasks in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). You will also be responsible for the successful deployment of the developed solution.

  • Be aware of test driven development to work as a core member of the small Agile team.
  • Design, develop and test Java micro-services to modify existing architecture, or implement new architecture and make necessary changes to the system interfaces utilizing Verizon’s DevOps source and object code libraries and configuration management procedures.
  • Partner with team members from Application Security to understand the complete life cycle of the issues at hand and help in resolving them.
  • Attend team meetings and scrums and actively contribute to issue resolution efforts.
  • Adapt to existing industry and Verizon security coding standards adhering to fortify scan and other security tool review requirements.
  • Conduct code reviews for junior members of the team and peer code reviews to ensure the code is following standards set forward by the architects.
  • Lead small team of developers in releases and sprints to deliver tasks related to Application Security Tools.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with Java J2EE technologies.
  • Experience with NodeJs or Python.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Technical experience with web and front-end frameworks.
  • Experience with Spring Batch, Spring Cloud & Spring Boot.
  • Experience with CI CD technologies like JIRA, Jenkins, Stash, Gitlab.
  • Experience with Pub/Sub Systems like Kafka or Kinesis.
  • Experience with Docker & Kubernetes.
  • Experience with NoSQL Databases (Cassandra, Elastic, ReDIS, etc.)
  • Knowledge of secure coding with OWASP coding practices.
  • Experience with programmatic security.
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills; capability to present findings effectively to critical audiences.
  • Knowledge of current industry standards for secure web and mobile design.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
