What you’ll be doing...

This is a Product Development and Innovation role where you are the product owner charged with ensuring rapid development of Verizon’s messaging (MMS/SMS/RCS) and communications products that generate revenue or significant cost savings, by partnering with other cross-functional teams and by identifying technology that can be leveraged to enhance the customer experience.

  • Understand customer needs and the competitive landscape, as well as the latest technological innovations, in order to help drive and support product offerings.
  • Perform marketing analysis and business case creation.
  • Work with the system architecture, technical requirements, design, and implementation.
  • Execute testing associated with new and current wireless products and services.
  • Lead large, multi-department teams to cooperatively design and develop strategic business initiatives in the wireless network, focused on achieving superior business results, while maintaining industry-leading network reliability.
  • Manage the project budget and internal development resources, and ensure evolution of existing products and services.
  • Significantly interact and provide leadership oversight of the internal teams while working in an agile and fast-paced development environment.
  • Interface with internal teams such as engineering teams, and IT to understand user, device/handset, provisioning, alarming, capacity/demand trending, operational, administrative, and revenue assurance requirements.
  • Pull together implementation plans and ensure on-time execution to support product launch targets.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Willingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, or Computer Science
  • Five or more years of telecommunications industry or related experience, developing services to the consumer or enterprise/business market.
  • Deep understanding of communications or messaging solutions, including Verizon’s offering.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience of cross-functional teams.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with systems definition and design, and an understanding of how these systems meet the needs of our customers.
  • Experience managing product roadmaps for consumer or enterprise/business applications, collecting customer feedback and incorporating into the product.
  • Knowledge of APIs, WAN and LAN connection, client/server and/or distributed computing architecture, internet protocols and technologies.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, verbal and written communications skills, and advanced presentation skills.
  • Three or more years of experience working with suppliers or internal teams in the definition of technical product requirements and design throughout product development cycles.
  • Experience setting up deals including RFI/RFP with suppliers, assembling and negotiating large contracts and in maintaining vendor relationships.
  • Knowledge and experience with SMS, MMS, RCS suite of protocols, SMPP, SIP, XMPP, MSRP, HTTP, XML, TCP, UDP, IMAP, POP3, SMTP, cloud services.
