SUMMARY

Verizon is seeking an Incumbent with proven Business, Technical and Project Management skills. The role is responsible for managing large and complex programs from end to end with an emphasis on cost, quality, optimization, rationalization and technology.

The Executive Director will lead multiple teams, including but not limited to: Network Category Management, IT Category Management, Resale Sourcing/Contract Management/Liaison efforts for Verizon Services Ireland Limited (VSIL), and the Technical Tear-Down Lab.

The role is responsible for approximately $15B in managed spend in collaboration with key internal business stakeholders and category relationship management of key suppliers for Verizon. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: leading teams to develop comprehensive category strategies and imperatives in support of VSIL negotiations (e.g., factbooks, data analytics, asset mgmt., etc.); development and management of the Network/IT Lab, including establishing intake process, skill development, etc.; contract development and management, as well as spearheading contract compliance; and collaborating closely with VSIL support of contract approval processes and execution within accordance of established corporate policies. Other duties include resource management to prioritize initiatives and analysis to identify sources of value, and creation of action plans to capture the value identified, including negotiation strategies.

A successful candidate will have working knowledge and deep expertise in sourcing of technology, including associated software development, and hardware. This must include a knowledge of spend and the supplier base globally, as well as an ability to work collaboratively with key business and functional stakeholders to govern spend in the category, ensuring best value.

SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

  • Working knowledge of developing a comprehensive category strategy in collaboration with key stakeholder teams; the output being a 3-5 year strategic sourcing plan for each category.
  • Superior communication, interpersonal and influencing skills with strong presence.
  • Deep expertise in analyzing technology spend, further stratifying spend into actionable business intelligence with working knowledge of key cost and price attributes to drive to best value propositions for services provided to our businesses and/or functions.
  • Core knowledge in best in class Sourcing processes and driving efficiencies within the business through such processes.
  • Working knowledge of asset and inventory management and best in class practices associated.
  • Expert knowledge of established and emerging suppliers globally leading to superior governance and management of spend through strong influence with key business and functional stakeholders.
  • Overall knowledge of Procurement processes and deliverables.
  • Working knowledge of conducting business reviews with key suppliers to drive alignment to key business imperatives and performance including the development of key performance metrics in this area of spend.
  • Ability to develop and execute both near term and long-term strategies.
  • Overall knowledge of contract development, management, and compliance.
  • Experience in providing resolution path on the implications and next steps regarding contract changes.
  • Successful management of Supplier dispute resolution through formal or informal dispute resolution channels.

QAULIFICATIONS

  • Experience in contemporary Sourcing & Procurement systems and tools and awareness of contemporary systems and tools landscape to achieve best-in-class business intelligence and analytics for Information Assurance.
  • 15-20 years of working knowledge and experience in strategic technology sourcing including software development and hardware as well as a strong background and working knowledge of contracting.
  • Specific knowledge and deep expertise in the primary category responsibilities is required.
  • Working knowledge of wireline and wireless telecommunications networks as well as software, hardware and cloud infrastructure is required to perform the VSIL Liaison functions and also to understand the base upon which new Verizon products and services are being built.
  • Fortune 100 company experience, specifically constructing multi-million dollar contracts in category highly preferred.
  • Direct management of geographically diverse and international teams required.
  • Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) certifications highly preferred
  • Certifications from the National Contract Management Association (NCMA), preferred.
  • Proven track record in leading, driving, and achieving significant improvement in organizational performance, and developing and driving business processes across multiple stakeholder groups in a complex environment.
  • Lean and Six Sigma experience, Green Belt certification preferred.
  • Willing to travel globally, approximately 25% of the time.
