We are looking for a Lead Oracle Database Administrator to join the Verizon B2B Application Development Team. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Design, deploy and support highly available and scalable distributed Oracle and Postgres database solutions for high transactions mission critical applications.
  • Spearhead the cloud transformation journey with responsibility for end-to-end management of multiple components of this Cloud Journey for our B2B Applications.
  • Work with internal and external customers to develop new value-added programs and data solutions with existing data warehouse structure.
  • Analyze and determine needed elements, data relationships, attributes, data flow, storage requirements, and data output and reporting capabilities.
  • Research and evaluate alternatives to recommend solutions for business issues.
  • Create ad-hoc reports utilizing various data sources.
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts in enhancing performance and providing increased functionality.
  • Collaborate with interfacing teams and take action to resolve the defects and roadblocks.
  • Assess project risk, proactively take remedial action and ensure robust system performance and stability in production.
  • Adopt Agile, DevOps and other enablers to improve effectiveness of project delivery.
  • Communicate project progress, status, risks, issues etc. to all levels of Management (Engineering and non-Engineering), up to and including Director and VP level as warranted.
  • Prepare, review, share and maintain the documentation for designs, changes, issues and fixes to but not limited to databases, jobs, data and processes.
  • Lead projects and schedule/plan project tasks for onsite and offshore team members and track the progress and ensure the deliverables are met.
  • Provide 24*7 on-call operations support for mission/business critical application, off hours support for release nights and product launches/high volume days/retail/holidays.
  • Develop standardized AMI images and Cloud formation automation scripts for building non-prod and prod environments on AWS.
  • Develop data models and perform planning of architecture, functions, modules, recovery, standards and implementation.
  • Installations, configurations and monitoring Oracle and Postgres DBs in on Premises and AWS.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with Oracle 12C, Shareplex, RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, UNIX scripting, SQL and performance tuning, Oracle utilities (sql*loader, data pump), OEM 12C / 13C, OEM installation, PL/SQL.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Computer Science.
  • Experience in Oracle 12c RAC, Performance tuning/troubleshooting skills and experience with VLDB's.
  • Experience with AWS - Oracle on EC2, AWS - PostgreSQL / Aurora PostgreSQL,Jenkins ,Cloud Formation, GIT, PSU and Bundle patching, LINUX - centos and Solaris.
  • Experience in infrastructure layout, provisioning.
  • Experience in Amazon AWS cloud infrastructure with particular reference to provisioning, security, and management.
  • Experience in all areas of database Administration of on premise and AWS DBs.
  • Proficiency with cloud-based infrastructure-as-a-service platforms: AWS, Google Compute Engine and Azure.
  • Proficiency with orchestration template technologies such as: AWS Cloud Formation.
  • Proficiency with configuration management and automation tools such as: Chef, Puppet, and Ansible.
  • Experience with NOSQL databases like Mongo and Cassandra databases.
