What you’ll be doing...

As a Maintenance Engineering (ME) Lab Support Senior Manager, you’ll be responsible for network lab operations in a fast-paced environment leading a team of technicians to support network engineers that are testing and verifying equipment in Verizon’s wireline network. These technicians ensure all equipment is received, racked, connected, and functional.

You’ll use your experience to manage key initiatives to reduce power consumption, to improve lab operational efficiency, and to maintain and improve lab security. You will support and facilitate project meetings and collaborate closely with peer managers that utilize the ME labs.

This position is also responsible for all onsite vendor management, vendor contracts, site power and connectivity, and site financials. This person will assist their supervisor in developing financial budgets and will be responsible for adhering to and meeting company financial policies and procedures.

This person will be responsible for maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and meeting Service Level Agreements (SLAs). You will be responsible for employee training and ensuring all staff are adequately trained and qualified to perform required duties. Responsible for evaluations and coaching of his or her direct reports, and scheduling of regular team and individual meetings is required.

Successful candidates will be able to undergo a background investigation.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in the field of engineering, information technology, or related field.
  • Experience managing a data center environment and network technicians.
  • A background installing, maintaining, and decomissioning network equipment.
  • Exposure to Cisco, Cienna, Nokia, and Juniper equipment.
  • Certifications from network equipment companies (CCNA, CCNP, JnCA, JNCP, etc.).
  • Knowledge of layer 2 and 3 networking.
  • A background managing people in a technical environment with knowledge of Network Lab or Data Center operations support.
  • The ideal candidate must have good team, organizational and planning skills, as well as stringent time management skills to balance dynamic workloads in a complex and dynamic environment, at various site locations.
  • Network technology knowledge, effective communication skills, troubleshooting abilities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
