What you’ll be doing...

The Finance Data Strategy and Management team has an opening for a Master Data Governance Manager responsible for managing Finance’s master data management and reports results to our stakeholders and executives. This Finance Data Governance manager (FDGO) handles multiple projects to ensure consistent data elements across Verizon Finance and adherence to our policies and procedures.

FDGO partners with our various business and technical data owners to ensure all master data is requested, evaluated, approved and tested before disseminating across our financial platforms. This team provides ongoing management and production support of data and hierarchy requests originating across our ERP systems (1ERP, SAP, PS, CostPoint, Oracle & HFM) and our financial reporting environments (ZBB, PMR, Hyperion Planning, Capital & Headcount) using our change control platforms (DRM, MDG, Collibra).

Along with understanding and enforcing our data governance, you will help design and implement end-to-end solutions that simplify and improve our processes but still enforce our data policies and standards.

As Finance Data Governance Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Establishing and enforcing our data policies, standards, common definitions and procedures
  • Communicating to stakeholders and executives our monthly data changes, metrics and policies
  • Ensuring data and hierarchies consistency across financial systems
  • Expanding our governance community to include additional critical master elements
  • Ensuring new financial systems and processes adhere to and support governance policies
  • Monitoring data quality through testing and periodic reviews
  • Measuring our governance maturity levels against prior baselines to track improvements
  • Validating ownership of the data elements to support the governance
  • Identifying data stewards and providing necessary authorization to review, create, enrich, approve & retire data
  • Providing education to data owners and stewards
  • Helping to remediate data issues

What we’re looking for...

You will need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • General Ledger & Financial Reporting knowledge

  • Ability to prioritize and complete tasks in timely manner to achieve deadlines
  • Ability to interface with multiple stakeholders across the business and Finance
  • Ability to work with a limited amount of supervision in a challenging environment
  • Ability to demonstrate effective problem-solving skills
  • Communication skills (both written and verbal) and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft and Google Products (e.g. Excel/Sheets, PowerPoint/Slides)
  • PMP, CDMP, CPA, or other certifications desirable
  • Experience with Essbase reporting applications desired
  • Experience with GL Ledgers (SAP, PS, Oracle) desired
  • Experience with Collibra Data Governance toolset desired
