What you’ll be doing...

This position is responsible for assisting in the management ofall lifecycle decisions (maintenance cost, execution, quality, vehicle and repair performance, utilization) consistent with Verizon policy and philosophy. Fleet Consultant will manage day-to-day functions and service provision through several key suppliers including equipment upfitters, repair providers, third-party fleet-management contractor as well as key points-of-contact in field operations across the CONTUS. The position will assist in being responsible for up to 8,000 units (primarily light and medium-duty, but including Class 7/8 vehicles, specialty equipment, trailers, etc.) that may require collaboration with other Verizon teams to maintain specialty integrated equipment. The position will assistmanagementto ensure departmental objectives are met, while providing strategic direction to maintain the fleet at an optimal level.

The position will be responsible for the daily monitoring and accuracy of work activities for preventative and corrective maintenance, acquisition and disposal of assets, as well as helping ensure operational compliance and overall performance management of Verizon's affiliate Fleet are maintained.

Other areas of responsibility either individually or through coordination of internal subject-matter experts include:

  • Adherence to policy monitoring vendor and vehicle performance to meet operational needs.
  • Monitoring and managing overall cost and key cost components (i.e. fuel, tires) through day-to-day decision.
  • Monitoring overall utilization and application of vehicles as inputs to ongoing allocation, retire/replace decisions. Work with senior management on growth requests to vet business-cases, needs requirements.
  • Provide guidance to operations to best allocate resources to maintain operational readiness and control cost.
  • DOT, OSHA/Safety and Environmental Compliance.
  • Work with other parts of the Fleet organization to manage IFTA/IRP, tax and resale activities associated with Fleet assets.
  • Communication with Internal Business Partners and External Vendors.
  • Acquisition and Disposition of company equipment and vehicles.
  • Accident reporting and estimates.
  • Administrative Report Analysis, Data Integrity, Metrics and Scorecards results.
  • Purchase and inventory of material and equipment.
  • Adherence to Verizon policies and procedures.
  • Manage, update, and maintain data in various Fleet systems.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience analyzing and pulling data related to specific task driven functions.
  • Ability to function in numerous tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel.

Even better if you have:

  • A mechanical background with the ability to make decisions concerning vehicle maintenance.
  • Experience with automotive fleet management, including administrative functions/tasks.
  • Supervisory experience in automotive maintenance and repair and/or vehicular fleet operations.
  • Experience managing a fleet through 3rd party service providers.
  • Knowledge of the DOT regulations.
  • Experience in both a “managed fleet” and in-house or captive fleet settings.
  • Experience in developing or delivering programs to enhance driver-satisfaction and customer-experience.
  • Certification in Microsoft Office
