What you’ll be doing...

The Senior Manager of Fraud Detection is responsible and accountable for the strategy, design, monitoring and overall effectiveness of alarms across the business units. Additionally, this leader will lead a team focused on the detection of new risks and react quickly to minimize the impacts of those risks on the business. This leader should understand the internal changes and external influences on the business and work to minimize emerging threats. The candidate must develop effective relationships with Sales Channels, Operational Teams and Technology partners as well as third party vendors that manage and improve risk detection in this dynamic business while balancing financial protection, customer experience and growth.

This Senior Manager will lead a team detecting new fraud trends, maintain effective and efficient detection and mitigation of fraud and continuously evolve detection methods while minimizing false positives that create unnecessary friction. The Senior Manager will use their knowledge of Verizon’s control environment, to quickly analyze and determine root cause, think strategically to implement new methods of detection, develop strong visual analytics to monitor alarm health and partner with IT, the business and external partners to continually evolve security and prevention.

  • Manage alarm strategy and monitor effectiveness of alarms routinely against business unit targets while identifying and responding to new and unidentified threats causing loss to the business.
  • Lead a team to identify, evaluate and prioritize alarm modifications based upon business impact and develop success measurement tools and detailed action plans to execute improvements.
  • React to anomalies in data that could result in fraud, lead command center over fraud attacks, drive rapid resolution for activity resulting in loss and adjust alarm strategy to accommodate business events (iconic launch, holiday, etc.).
  • Prepare and deliver executive-level presentations communicating risks mitigated, and the potential impacts of unmitigated risks to senior management.
  • Communicate timely, accurate and appropriate information regarding findings and improvement recommendations for senior management and monitor management’s improvement actions.
  • Provide insight into Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as they relate to alarm health. Financial acumen will be used to routinely evaluate the risk/reward assessment of alarm activity.
  • Tactical and strategic end to end project implementation is required and will include test planning, process change review and documentation, training and communications.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • MBA or other advanced degree.
  • Three or more years of direct or indirect management experience.
  • Telecommunications experience.
  • Vendor management experience.
  • Project management experience with the ability to handle multiple projects concurrently leveraging organization and time-management skills.
  • Ability to foster a collaborative team environment partnering to achieve common goals.
  • Experience managing multiple assignments, with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience creating and leading a team with high visibility in a dynamic, changing environment.
  • Excellent negotiation, strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience in Fraud or Security functions.
  • Advanced Query Skills (SQL) and proficiency in advanced analytics, visualization and presentation.
  • Working knowledge of statistics, reporting and analytical tools (Tableau, Excel) with the ability to perform in-depth analyses of large datasets to identify anomalies.
  • Experience leading a team in creating complex analytics across large datasets to quickly identify emerging threats, determine root cause and produce ongoing monitoring of key risks.
  • Strong financial acumen to routinely evaluate the risk/reward assessment of alarm activity.
  • Experience managing risk detection in a dynamic, fast paced industry.
  • Three or more years of analytical skills with demonstrated critical thinking through data analysis and system systems in dynamic, changing environment.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, complete important time sensitive tasks and adapt quickly to change.
