What you’ll be doing...

You will be responsible for the on-boarding and operationalizing of applications, as well as System Administration for all upstream and downstream network elements. You will function as a subject matter expert in scripting, automation and cloud-computing and leverage those skills to drive efficiencies in the network.

  • Leading the implementation of feature designs and providing feedback and engineering solutions to improve reliability and performance.
  • Partnering with all key stakeholders to ensure new features and/or fixes are swiftly tested and rolled out with no negative impact to customers or system performance.
  • Leading in defining system and network variables to appropriately benchmark the system and ensure all reliability and performance metrics are met.
  • Applying your independent thinking skills and creative mindset to leverage automation to eliminate manual processes and provide near real-time visibility into system health and performance.
  • Identifying deficiencies and quickly developing a solution in a DevOps manner to help improve the reliability and add operational efficiencies in the network.
  • Providing subject matter expertise in cloud-computing and automation within the group and externally.
  • Hosting and/or actively participating in meetings with key stakeholders regarding the roadmap planning and performance testing.
  • Mentoring junior team members on system design, cloud computing and networking concepts.
  • Providing concise weekly updates to management and effectively presenting project status to leadership.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Openstack certification.
  • Six or more years of work experience as a systems/network engineer.
  • Three or more years of related cable, satellite, and telephony transport industries knowledge.
  • Proven ability to manage/administer: Networks, Conditional Access systems, Ad insertion systems, Windows & Linux Servers.
  • Proficiency in one or more scripting languages (Perl, Python, Shell, Ruby).
  • Demonstrated examples of scripts/work up on Github.
  • Experience with automation tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
  • Experience with Linux systems in an enterprise production environment.
  • Experience with SDN/NFV.
  • Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP networking, load balancing, firewalls, HTTP, SSL, DNS, DHCP.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve IP network troubles in the physical, data link, and network layers and maintain configuration of devices in a network management monitoring system.
  • Expert knowledge of services, network devices, knowledge base solutions, and system monitoring tools.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including holidays and weekends as necessary to ensure 24x7 coverage.
