What you’ll be doing...

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for running the day to day operations of the Enterprise Data Warehouse ETL process on various technology platform like Teradata, Hadoop , Unix/Linux and Mainframe.
  • Work activities specific to Production Support roles include Problem/Incident Management, Release/Deployment, Operational Readiness, Capacity/Availability Management, Application Monitoring, Service Analytics and Reporting, Production Governance, Associate Support, Change/Configuration Management, SLAs.
  • Participate with management in the development of technology products, service standards and development efforts that impact the client/business area.
  • Serve as an escalation point between EDW clients, Development, DBA , Sources team and Crisis management teams.
  • Monitoring and performance of production applications to ensure that internal and external teams work together to resolve any failures.
  • Manage client expectations and SLA’s to ensure smooth production throughout timelines.
  • Establish best practices for support methodology and processes including maintenance and support roadmaps, processes and technical documentation. Ability to ensure standard processes and procedures are adhered to and improve existing processes with ability to identify, prioritize, resolve and/or escalate issues.
  • Optimize performance and solving scalability issues.
  • Develop and/or oversee development of configurations, monitoring procedures and break/fix documentation.
  • Pre-production and production release deployments, change ticket review and approvals.
  • Responds to user requests for assistance.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves system issues.
  • Manage end-to-end Platform & Infrastructure requests with minimal direction from Functional Managers; can execute requests with strong attention to detail and strong time-management skills.
  • Partner with the infrastructure team to troubleshoot and resolve network related issues.
  • Communicate server/system issues, resolution plans, and recommend preventive action to leadership/business team.
  • Work with third party vendors and consultants on system upgrades, updates/changes through the problem resolution.
  • Follow SOPs and administration guidelines for server upgrades, backups, patching, performance tuning, and security and administration of the applications.
  • Participates in capacity planning to ensure production environments are adequately sized and configured to meet current and projected demand.
  • Participates in performance testing to ensure Hadoop Server meets client application SLA's.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree in Computer Science
  • Five or more years of experience in Production Support with Teradata and Hadoop.
  • Experience of CI/CD for application code support.
  • Teradata production support and Administrator experience.
  • Experience installing/configuring/upgrading Teradata Servers.
  • Experience using UNIX/Linux, Teradata, ESP & Oozie, UNIX shell scripting, Transfer protocols, SQL .
  • Verizon/Industry business knowledge and Verizon product knowledge, across different business groups.
  • Ability to work side by side with the team (onshore & offshore) and take leadership when necessary.
  • Experience in data analysis and metrics reporting.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Excellent oral and written skills.
  • Willingness to work on a flexible schedule.
  • Big Data Warehouse knowledge.
  • Experience in best practice assessments on Database Administration.
  • Strong interpersonal skills Detail oriented.
  • Experience in performance tuning, volume testing and application scaling.
  • Experience in re-engineering, re-host, customize, conversion and application porting.
  • Ability to performwith minimal supervision.
