The Business Development and Strategic Planning Manager is accountable for the overall roaming relationships with Domestic Wireless Operators and Verizon’s LTE in Rural America (LRA) participants, and other opportunities. The key focus of this role will be negotiating new roaming terms with Verizon’s roaming partners to reduce financial exposure, while driving opportunities to increase partner roaming revenue on the Verizon Network.

You will also formulate pricing recommendations designed to preserve and improve Verizon Wireless competitiveness while protecting profitability. You will work with the Roaming Finance Manager on business case development of alternative scenarios and recommendations to management, including creating concise decks/presentations for review with senior management.

As a main point of contact for roaming: responsibilities will include:

  • Negotiating commercial terms of roaming agreements (new and amendments to existing agreements), including establishing relationships with Roaming Contacts at other operators.
  • Performing contract administration, including working closely with Verizon Wireless counsel to create and amend roaming contracts consistent with business principles agreed to between the operators.
  • Handling relationship and program management, including resolving commercial issues and technical/business LRA partner requirements, which will require partnership with technical and finance organizations (e.g. network, revenue assurance, area finance), including driving projects to completion.
  • Providing guidance in the budget and planning process, and responsible to be a key contributor for all ZBB analysis.
  • Influencing Roam steering and Preferred Roaming List (PRL) preference decisions.
  • Being an internal subject matter expert to domestic roaming and LTE in Rural America (LRA) relationships, including providing support for retail propositions.
  • Supporting of other roaming related initiatives.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or related field or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with contract negotiations and managing relationships.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.

Even better if you have:

  • A Master's degree in Business Administration.
  • Knowledge and experience with GSM/LTE and CDMA roaming.
  • Broad based knowledge of the wireless telecommunications industry.
  • Experience influencing decision makers.
  • Financial analysis experience.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage, implement and support multiple projects and programs under strict timelines.
