What you’ll be doing...

Cloud Engineer for our public cloud operations team will focus on automating governance policies in our cloud environments. The goal is to enable self-service wherever possible without compromising security. The team is responsible for partnering with multiple stakeholders in framing and implementing governance policy frameworks for Cloud platforms primarily on AWS and also on OCI and GCP .

Governance team is primarily responsible for ensuring that the data and processes that are used in public cloud platforms are secured and controlled so that application workloads in those cloud platforms are not exposed to unintended users or services. Governance includes implementation of strict policies for managing users, roles, permissions and accounts, and ensuring enforcement and compliance of those policies, visibility into who is doing what and auditing what changes were made to the environment. Another aspect of Governance is periodic audit on resource utilization and terminating services that are under-utilized or non-compliant to organizational standards

Core Responsibilities:

  • Design and automate governance framework across our cloud environments with an emphasis on AWS.
  • Partner with application delivery teams in enabling cloud services after evaluating the risk exposure.
  • Conduct POCs on services from security and risk stand points and create access management framework based on principle of least privileges.
  • Automate Identity and Access management in cloud environments for enabling users and services.
  • Work with stakeholders from both our application as well as security teams to provide solutions that meet security and governance requirements while minimizing impact on developer productivity.
  • Proactive monitoring, logging , audits and automated policy enforcement for security and cost compliance.
  • Ensuring services availability and continuity through proper response to incidents and requests.
  • Work with management to build the long-term strategic roadmap for the team, and provide mentorship to junior team members.
  • Work in a product operating model which is based on Agile/ Scrum practices.

What we’re looking for...

You will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • Experience on Cloud Governance practices and frameworks.
  • Bachelor’s degree and eight or more years of relevant IT work experience.
  • Four or more years of experience in building cloud platform architecture solutions on public and/or private cloud platforms with an emphasis towards governance/security tools.
  • Knowledge on Governance frameworks and services - AWS IAM, Cloud Trail, Cloud Watch, AWS Configuration, controls like Security Groups, Network ACLs etc.
  • Knowledgeable of industry standard security frameworks and controls required of Public Cloud services to host mission critical apps with data sensitivity.
  • Knowledge in security engineering, threat models and vulnerability management in Cloud environments.
  • Knowledge in core AWS services like EC2, S3, EBS, ELB, AWS Lambda , CLI etc. and with AWS network services.
  • Knowledge of governance frameworks and services in other cloud platforms like OCI and GCP.
  • Strong Cloudformation and Jenkins scripts to automate the build, test, package & deployment of function(s) & configuration, Strong hands-on knowledge of Lambda Functions.
  • AWS Professional Certification is an advantage.
  • Experience in infrastructure and Cloud services with proficiency in automation using Python, Unix Shell and other scripting languages.
  • Experience with modern source control repositories (e. g. Git) and DevOps toolsets (Jenkins/ Ansible etc) and knowledge with Agile/ Scrum methodologies.
  • Knowledge with cloud-native and microservice architectures and an understanding of design principles for scalability, performance, and reliability.
  • Knowledge with distributed systems, asynchronous messaging, and networking protocols.
  • Experience with open source applications, frameworks, and libraries.
