What you’ll be doing...

Continuous improvement efforts drive our business and you will work with customer technical teams to provide solutions for customers' internetworking communications requirements. You will be performing routed/switched network design activity for our large enterprise customer data networks. As the primary interface to customers in support of their WAN/LAN enterprise projects, you will make us better by creating great enterprise customer data networks.

  • Investigating, designing, planning, and implementing communications networks.
  • Partnering with customer teams to develop solutions that support their requirements.
  • Preparing network schematics to define and illustrate network design solutions.
  • Creating hardware and software configuration upgrades.
  • Providing IP addressing and routing strategies.
  • Preparing detailed work orders for technicians.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Working with the Customer, internal Verizon groups, external vendors, external carriers and Verizon’s suppliers to provide technical support of Customer incidents for Verizon’s Customers.
  • Working on Incident tickets using Verizon’s ticketing system that had been escalated by Network operation center.
  • Working on Change Request tickets using Verizon’s change request system.
  • Being responsible for Network troubleshooting and configuring routers and switches (LAN/WAN/MAN/Wireless environment).
  • Providing Tier 2 technical support, training and direction to lower level technicians (Tier1, LTEs, and Tier2).
  • Implementing standard/express changes request for small, medium, and large scale customer networks.
  • Troubleshooting, isolating and restoring customer services.
  • Providing support for global operation environment working on 24x7 and/or 24x5 shifts (on-call rotation during weekends are required when working 24x5 shifts).

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) certification.
  • Experience with Cisco LAN switching, WAAS, Juniper routing and internal wireless products.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience with contemporary technologies including MPLS, TCP/IP, IPSec, BGP, QoS, IP Telephony, Multicast, and/or other similar tools.
  • Technical knowledge and CCNP experience.
  • Designed and implemented large scale customer networks.

In addition:

  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification.
  • A vendor certification of Professional level at a minimum (i.e. Cisco, Juniper). ITIL foundation certification or knowledge is desirable.
  • Experience with MPLS, Internet, Private Lines, WAN accelerator, VPN technologies, Load Balancer, Routing protocols (including but not limited to OSPF, EIGRP, BGP).
  • Advanced knowledge supporting products from vendors like Cisco, Aruba, Riverbed, Juniper, Adtran, BlueCoat and HP.
  • Experience in SDWAN, VNS, and Scripting is a plus.
  • Experience in using Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, and Visio.
  • Five or more years of experience performing Tier 2 function in an operations environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and have the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Project management experience.
