What you’ll be doing...

As a Finance Project Manager you will play a key role in managing the Financial Systems stack for wireline projects, particularly focused on consumer/retail projects. The focus for this role is to ensure that planning and implementation considers the correct processing and accounting of financial data from billing systems to the ERP systems.

The Finance Project Manager role will manage all facets for cross-functional technical projects with broad scope to ensure deliverables are met within schedule, budget, and quality goals. This position works closely with Finance business partners addressing enhancements, acquisitions, and product launches/changes that impact the revenue recognition/booking process and systems. The primary focus will be on adjustments and changes needed for correct processing and accounting of financial data across multiple systems. It will also ensure that needed changes for processing revenue data correctly is properly documented, tested, and integrated within financial systems. Additional responsibilities entail the communication of project updates to Finance and IT leadership as needed and ensuring work efforts meet established timelines and requirements.

  • Support several large-scale, complex projects in line with various customer’s long-term strategies and objectives and with significant impact on Verizon Finance and IT landscape.
  • Translation of business requirements and user stories into technical requirements, functional end-to-end design, and test plans using both waterfall and agile methodologies.
  • Drive planning, execution, delivery, status updates within the end-to-end IT development cycle for consumer and retail projects such as system integrations/billing migrations impacting multiple legal reporting entities, Accounts Receivable sub-ledger migrations, and general ledger conversions (and decommissions).
  • Responsible for the coordination, stability, and status reporting of cross-functional project oriented work efforts.
  • Manages processes and methodologies for the to ensure that projects are delivered on time, on budget, and meet customer specifications.
  • Assembles project plans and team assignments.
  • Directs and monitors work performance by managing resource requirements, performance quality analysis, and escalating timeline concerns in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for tracking project deliverables and adjusting project plans and/or resource needs to meet customer requirements.
  • Schedules meetings and coordinates communication regarding project progress and risks that impact budget and/or timeline.
  • Manages one or more cross-functional projects of medium to high intensity.
  • Focus on the system and application design activity.
  • Capture business requirements and ensure that design and technical requirements align, working across various functional and technical groups.
  • Collaborate effectively and learn to navigate through the complexities of the organization across the business, IT, and other Finance Systems Group teams.
  • Execute, Get Things Done - direct and indirect responsibility for project resource evaluation and milestones for definable work streams that will get the project to completion.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in Project Management or financial systems.

Even better if you have:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in Finance, Accounting, FP&A, Project Management, MIS, or other business-related discipline.
  • Experience with both Agile and Waterfall project methodologies.
  • Self-starter with demonstrated ability to learn quickly in an unstructured environment with little or no supervision.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholder groups and functions across a complex organization
  • Experience creating and delivering status updates/presentations to all levels of management
  • Ability to build and maintain strong partnerships across a complex organization in many regions
  • Experience in managing multiple projects at various stages of the project lifecycle
  • Telco/ Verizon wireline experience.
