What you’ll be doing...

Verizon’s Platform Engineering team is looking for Cloud infrastructure Engineers. He/She will be playing a key role in shaping the architecture of the platform Tools on Cloud and on-prem.

Qualification:

Any Degree in Computer Science, BE\ME or equivalent.

Should be from a PRODUCT based organization.

6+ years of experience as an infrastructure Engineer

Responsibilities:

Ensure uptime of the platform for end-users as well as development teams.

Building immutable infrastructure in public cloud providers (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, etc).

Participating in design review of new infrastructure, and new product/tool development

Participate in tool analysis, creates proof of concept models, and makes recommendations to support the tools selection process

Generate metrics to measure the performance of the infrastructure tools, frameworks and other systems that support the entire engineering and release.

Develop automation and orchestration playbooks/scripts, blueprints, and/or workflows related to service deployments

Managing vendor relationships

Proactively identify server performance improvements, devise upgrade plans, and execute those plans in a timely manner

Skills:

5+ years of Experience supporting DevOps and Cloud initiatives.

Well versed in TCP/IP, DNS, WINS, and Active Directory, with troubleshooting experience.

IIS 7.5, 7.0, 6.0, 5.0

Processor and system architecture (processing cores, dedicated vs. shared cache, system buses, CPU, memory, I/O peripherals, etc.)

The Linux operating system (kernel vs. user space, scheduling, bypass drivers, etc.)

Network architecture and protocols (TCP/IP, Security, Routing, HTTP/HTTPS, VPNs, load-balancing, LAN vs. MAN vs. WAN, disparate Layer 1 technologies, etc.)

Latency monitoring concepts and relevant industry solutions

Demonstrated proficiency with a scripting/coding language(s) - Perl, Python, Ruby, shell

Demonstrated proficiency with a configuration management tool a plus - Puppet, Ansible, Chef

Monitoring/Alerting tools and platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, New Relic, Pingdom, etc

Logging infrastructure such as fluentd, logstash, elasticsearch, kibana, or spunk

Managing SQL and NoSQL databases.

Security: encryption methodologies, certificate management, etc.

System level troubleshooting.

CI/CD and workflow automation

Self-starter that enjoys learning new tools, technologies, and most of all, solving problems.

Schedulers (kubernetes, nomad, and/or mesos).

Containers (docker, rkt, cri-o, etc).

Modern open source tooling: Hashicorp products (Terraform, Consul, Packer, Vault, etc)

AWS Architecture or Operations Certifications( a plus)

Experience engineering or operating infrastructure-as-a-service platforms such as AWS, Google Compute Engine, Azure, Soft Layer, etc.

High reasoning aptitude and ability to quickly understand a complex operating environments.

Proficient in good documentation practices.

Experience with storage platforms including NetApp, EMC, IBM, HP, & Dell Compellent

Handson experience in AWS (Lambda, Ec2, ELB, S3, EFS, RDS, CloudWatch, CloudFormation, IAM, Rouote53. ELB, Device form etc.)

LDAP, SSO, Active Directory support\Implementation experience
