What you’ll be doing...

The Finance Data Strategy and Management team has an opening for a Senior Master Data Governance Manager responsible for managing Finance’s master data management and reports results to our stakeholders and executives.

  • Management of the Master Data Governance team (approximately 6-8 headcounts, 6 direct reports, 3 functional experts) including cost and budget responsibility, team/ people/ skill development, performance review and target setting/ achievement.
  • Overall end to end design, management and decision authority (line of sight greater than 2 years) for the Finance Master Data Governance framework (e.g. standards, guidelines, roles, process, hierarchies, documentation, standardization) for ERP & EPM systems.
  • Responsibility for ongoing management and support of data and hierarchy changes in our ERP systems (1ERP, SAP, PS, CostPoint, Oracle & HFM) and our financial reporting environments (Zero Based Budgeting [ZBB], Performance Management Reporting [PMR], Hyperion Planning, Capital & Headcount) utilizing our change control platforms (DRM, MDG, Collibra).
  • Strong collaboration within groups involved in large Finance projects such as 1ERP to ensure their data conforms to Finance’s standards, common definitions and falls under our governance control. This requires building strong relationships with data owners, business stewards and the project teams to produce quality results.
  • Flexibility and collaborative work approach to solve complex, interdependent problems and to develop customer specific solutions - taking into account multiple internal and external stakeholder groups and different level of stakeholder groups (e.g. Top Management) with various/changing stakeholder demands, requirements and intersections (e.g. IT, Finance, FP&A, Top Management level etc.).
  • Responsibility for Master Data Governance projects in line with long term strategies - during project course indirect responsibility of involved project members.
  • Compliance to Verizon policies and procedures or direct impact on the re-design of existing policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the establishment and enforcement our data policies, standards, common definitions and procedures.
  • On-boarding new financial systems and processes to adhere to data governance.
  • Improve and simplify governance processes thru technology, processes and resources thereby improving our governance maturity levels against prior baseline.
  • Socialize our policies & procedures and data metrics and provide continual education to data owners and stewards.
  • Assist in data issues remediation.
  • Direct and manage project resources, including employees, Time & Material Contractors and 3rd party vendors, from beginning to end and delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
  • Mentor and develop team members to thrive in a transformation environment.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Willingness to travel upto approximately 25% of the time.
  • Experience in people/ project management.
  • Master Data Governance program management.
  • SAP/ PeopleSoft ERP and Oracle Data Relationship Management experience, certification preferred.

  • Bachelor’s degree in general Accounting, Finance, FP&A, IT, Project Management or any other related discipline.
  • Ability to meet aggressive deadlines and produce quality results.
  • Motivated, self-starter and highly collaborative.
  • Experience with Essbase reporting applications.
  • Experience with GL Ledgers (SAP, PS, Oracle).
  • Experience with Collibra Data Governance toolset.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to interface with various/ complex stakeholder groups and functions, and senior level management.
  • Experience in leadership with the ability to motivate employees.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and produce quality results.
