What you’ll be doing...

This position is responsible for the proper operation of a large group of 50+ Cell Site Network Elements in Polk County. To include preventative and remedial maintenance, installation, optimization, building and ground upkeep, and integration of network hardware and interconnect facilities. Maintaining and repairing all base station equipment and transmitters.

  • Maintaining site and test equipment inventories; testing and analyzing network coverage to ensure contiguous communication and network integrity and quality; updating daily logs with site-specific information and correlating databases.
  • Composing clear and concise reports for system documentation; and performing audits as required by local, regional, Area, Corporate or Regulatory agencies.
  • The Field Assurance Engineer is expected to be able to perform his duties with little supervision, and participate in cross-functional projects as scheduled.
  • Performs preventative and remedial maintenance on all base station and transmitter equipment.
  • Performs installation and optimization of same.
  • Performs routine building and grounds maintenance and inspections.
  • Integrates Network hardware and interconnect facilities.
  • Analyzes network coverage to ensure contiguous communication and network integrity.
  • Makes recommendations to engineering for improving network coverage and implementation.
  • Maintains inventories of test equipment, base station, and transmitters.
  • Updates daily logs with site-specific information.
  • Composes clear and concise reports for system documentation.
  • Must be able to perform physical requirements of the job, with or without a reasonable accommodation, including, but not limited to, perceiving differences in wire cable colors, moving and/or lifting items such as ladders, tools, air tanks, cable reels, test equipment and other objects weighing up to 100 pounds, working aloft; climbing ladders and poles, and entering tunnels, buildings, trenches, crawl spaces, manholes, and other confined spaces to accomplish job tasks.
  • Primary duties include, but are not limited to:
    • The integration, operation, and maintenance of all base station equipment.
    • Preventative and remedial maintenance.
    • Site optimization including PIM/VSWR testing, 911 testing, and call testing.
    • Fiber testing/turn up.
    • Testing and analyzing network coverage to ensure contiguous communication and network integrity and quality.
    • Building and grounds upkeep.
    • Support of interdepartmental objectives for new projects.
    • Maintaining site and test equipment inventories.
    • Maintaining daily logs with site specific information.
    • Composing clear and concise reports for system documentation.
    • Performing audits as required by local, regional, Area, Corporate or Regulatory agencies.
    • Must be able to manage and prioritize multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously.
    • The FA Engineer – Cells is expected to be able to perform his duties with little supervision, and participate in cross-functional projects as scheduled.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Three of more years of relevant work experience.
  • EBH MW Radio experience.
  • Ericsson eNB experience.
  • Ethernet Backhaul/Fiber experience.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the job, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Required to climb on a ladder to about 8ft for pole equipment maintenance.
  • Willingness to work on-call, nights, and weekends.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
  • A valid driver’s license.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • C-RAN and DAS experience will be a plus.
  • ALU Base Station experience preferred.
  • Good technical understanding of computer networking protocols and services (LAN, WAN, routers, switches, TCP/IP, FTP).
  • Various VZ software such as RTT, SAM, IOP, Netsmart, and Workbench 360.
  • Capable of towing portable equipment.
  • Willingness to be on call at times and work nights and weekends when necessary (resolving issues).
  • Self-motivated and excellent problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively and concisely communicate orally and in writing.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Intermediate training in at least 3 of the following areas: data communications, digital communications, operating systems and applications, telecommunications, computer support, project management, and/or power.
