What you’ll be doing...

You'll be responsible for monthly account reconciliation, budget preparation and submission, monthly best views and data analysis for the energy spend across Verizon. (Approximately 142,000 utility accounts are processed for Global Real Estate on a monthly basis with an annual spend of $1.2 billion). In this position you'll leverage your extensive analytical skills, systems knowledge, strong accounting and finance background, familiarity of invoice processing and utility tariffs polices. Specifically, you'll be responsible for:

  • Reconciling daily/monthly utility files with Accounts Payable ensuring all expenditures are valid and assigned to the proper organization.
  • Maintaining cost center ledgers by business unit ensuring all invoices are coded correctly and with proper accounting information.
  • Reconciling Verizon's bank statement ensuring electronic payments are dispersed accurately and in a timely matter.
  • Determining monthly accrual amounts ensuring accurately utility liabilities for Verizon and submitting to Accounting for processing.
  • Reviewing and analyzing funding / consolidation reports ensuring no duplication of payments or input errors which would result in misrepresentation of Verizon's financial statements.
  • Identifying significant fluctuations and providing detailed month over month & year over year variance explanations.
  • Project managing the monthly close process ensuring all reports are submitted to Finance & Accounting by required deadlines.
  • Preparing Verizon's annual Energy budget, monthly energy results and updated best view reports.
  • Developing the incremental transaction budget at a site level which is incorporated into the Energy budget.
  • Preparing reports detailing energy invoices not paid by Verizon's third party invoice payment provider, identifying energy debits and credits received from reimbursements, leases, load curtailment activities and rebates.
  • You will need to be available during monthly close and results preparation.

You enjoy understanding the financials, drivers and results of the energy budget.You enjoy peeling back the onion to look for variance drivers, outliers, etc.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience working with energy budgets and results.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Experience with budgeting, tariffs and large utility spend.
  • Master of Tableau data manipulation.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience working with energy budgets and results.
  • Master of Excel, PowerPoint.
