What we need you to execute on

  • LeadershipManage, coach and motivate a high performing, globally focused team responsible for the strategic sourcing of Verizon’s Network Equipment and Infrastructure Products & Services (Antenna, DAS, Microwave, DC Power, Power Plant, EF&I and PM Electrical Service & Maintenance, Integrated / Concealment poles, Generators, Test Equipment etc.)
  • Technical Expertise - Provide insights and direction in the implementation of sourcing solutions that drive Verizon shareholder value and optimize the customer experience.
  • Relationships – Manage external supplier relationships to deliver optimum value for Verizon; collaborate with key internal business partners to assess their needs and work with them on key initiatives to alignment between the business on deadlines and strategic factors.
  • Metrics – Define, integrate and drive large scale cost savings initiatives across the team in order to drive results across the entire footprint.

  • Ability to lead various Cross Functional Teams (CFTs) which determine the business and technical requirements specific to Network Equipment and Infrastructure Products for large combined category spend in excess of $1B.
  • Drive all aspects of complex strategic sourcing process through leadership and strategic thinking including but not limited to taking lead on contract negotiations of business and pricing terms and conditions, coordinate research and providing benchmark data on pricing and/or other key terms and conditions, and working with the internal business partners to develop negotiations strategy, objectives and plans
  • Strong understanding and practical working knowledge of Network Infrastructure equipment, of Network functionality, current technologies and future state build out; 5G IoT, Massive MIMO, Beam-Forming technology. Staying abreast of technological advancements and trends in the Network “delivery” space is crucial
  • Utilize and explore all negotiation techniques, methodologies and levers to ensure Best Price and Best Cost at all times by using, but not limited to RFPs, RFIs, RFQs, Clean sheeting, Benchmarking, Should cost modeling, Product Tear down, Reverse auctions, SLA and contractual reviews and Direct negotiations
  • Provide direction and leadership to their individual team of Sourcing Specialists in support of business initiatives that provide operational efficiencies to Verizon and optimize the customer experience
  • Evaluate and standardize Network hardware across Network Platforms, while reducing and rationalizing the Supply base and increasing Diverse spend
  • Maximize Verizon’s purchasing power to achieve lower cost for all categories; Antenna, Small cell, DAS (Indoor and Outdoor), Microwave, Integrated and Tradition al Poles and Power categories; Cell site Generators, Power distribution and Electrical Service & Maintenance Providers and HVAS Product and Services while mitigating risk across the business
  • Effectively manage supplier relationships, while maintaining positive relationships and providing superior service to the internal business partners
  • Integrate large scale cost savings initiatives across the teams categories in order to drive results across the entire footprint
  • Strong communication and collaboration required with Key Business Partners and Network Field Teams to assess their needs on an ongoing basis and work closely with them on key initiatives to ensure alignment between the teams on deadlines, and/or other important strategy factors
  • Stays current with industry trends and ensures that their team is current on individual Product & Service Stream trends for their assigned category area. Acts as a Trusted Advisor to Key Business Partners

What we’re looking for...

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 6 – 8 years related experience in contract management or sourcing position
  • Experience managing teams
  • Project Management in complex multi-project and multi-geography environment
  • Experience in contract negotiations to include business, price and technical terms
  • Experience in Strategic Sourcing and/or Contract Management
  • RFP / RFI / RFQ and other methodologies and Practices experience
  • Experience leading or participating in Cross Functional Teams (CFT)
  • Knowledge of Strategic Network equipment Sourcing processes, policies, and procedures
  • Experience in data analysis & supplier assessment
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience developing resolutions to complex problems that require the frequent use of creativity
  • Experience in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
  • Strong interpersonal and client service skills
  • Strong team leadership skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Self-motivated /self-starter with ability to work independently
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with experience in influencing others
  • Experience in drafting contract documents required for the establishment of business content elements (i.e., Statements of Work (SOW)
  • Apply critical thinking skills and work independently to make sound business decisions on behalf of the company
  • Ability to solve complex problems to ensure business and financial issues result in sound decisions
