What you’ll be doing...

Join our Information Technology Application Security team where you will be responsible for working across the portfolio and the enterprise with individuals in multiple organizational units, bringing them together to monitor, identify, assess and maintain a strong Information Security compliance posture through continuous monitoring, testing and education.

You will work with application portfolios, IT security, and infrastructure teams to ensure that adequate and effective security processes and controls are implemented and aligned to deliver compliance with corporate security requirements, Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS), contractual obligations, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.

You will be responsible for the Mavens Program which is designed to establish and maintain a community of security aware professionals. Mavens are software developers embedded in their development organizations that have an affinity towards information security. The program will enable these software developers to gain a richer understanding of the security challenges and threats that Verizon faces and arm our development teams with mitigation strategies and tactics that will improve the organization’s security posture.

You will manage this broad and diverse group of Mavens security efforts, establishing the Mavens priorities, and serving as the primary feedback loop to other organizations to improve security via people, process, or technology issues as identified by the Mavens teams.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Strong Information Security expertise, including but not limited to identity and access management, policy, contractual obligations, PCI, application security, privilege access, logging, monitoring, risk management, security testing, vulnerability management.
  • Experience in analyzing a broad and complex range of risks to ensure priorities are focused on the most relevant risk reduction solutions.
  • Ability to build strategic partnerships and alliances with teams providing security thought leadership and direction.
  • Ability to maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the company’s threat landscape.
  • Knowledge of application of controls.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
