What you’ll be doing...

We’re looking for a Technical Product Manager to join our close-knit airborne connectivity team. You’ll be working in an exciting startup environment within the foundation of a large company (Verizon). As a Technical Product Manager, you will take ownership of Verizon’s Airborne LTE Operations (ALO) product and service offering that connects manufacturers’ cellular devices with Verizon’s wireless network. In this role you will uncover target customer device needs, understand customer concerns, and work within Verizon to coordinate and adapt the device certification process. You’ll lead sales-enablement documentation, device manufacturer involvement, and other go-to-market activities. The role will be part of a cross-discipline team focused on enabling LTE and 5G connectivity in the drone and traditional aviation industries.


Market Discovery

  • Discover and refine our understanding of the airborne connectivity market and customer needs by engaging with our market and our customers.
  • Use this understanding to prioritize and define what Skyward & Verizon should bring to market, in order to drive business value for cellular device manufacturers, drone operators, and the unmanned aerial vehicle industry.
  • Develops product plans, including target segment and value proposition, for products to be brought to market.


  • Effectively communicate your understanding of market problems and needs to stakeholders in everyday verbal and written communication.
  • Convey the value of what Skyward & Verizon have today and are creating and planning for the future to Marketing, Sales, Customers and the market at large.
  • Write a variety of project briefs, user stories and requirements - as well as presenting - to your peers, leadership, and customers.


  • Maintain a trusted relationship with stakeholders, which include but are not limited to: Verizon wireless and wireline network organizations, Engineering, Policy, Product, Marketing, Sales, Flight Operations, and executive management.


  • Build, groom, and maintain product backlog.
  • Make clear decisions that promote well-defined, timely product enhancements and communicate those enhancements to concerned stakeholders.
  • Communicate with Sales and Marketing team about status of product work and provide key points for new feature and product launch communications.

What we’re looking for...

You will need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Five or more experience as a product manager and/or product owner
  • Direct experience working with teams building, improving, and launching great wireless device products

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Product management experience in embedded systems, cellular network or MNO services, or UAS hardware
  • Knowledge with SaaS products, including API integration with 3rd party products.
  • Project Management experience, including management of cross-functional and/or cross-area projects.
  • Knowledge of and enthusiasm about the drone industry, such as manned or unmanned pilot experience.
  • Clear communication ability - written and oral - as well as presentation skills. The aptitude to effectively relay complex information to others.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work with and motivate team members, peers and leadership. You will be a peer leader who maintains a team orientation, with the desire to collaborate to reach excellent results.
  • A strong sense of urgency and bias to action - ability to think on your feet.
  • Superior problem-solving and analytical skills.
