What you’ll be doing...

Verizon is seeking a Disaster Recovery (DR) Architect with a general Information Technology (IT) background in services related to network topology, cloud / dev-ops architecture, application / software deployment, virtual / physical server configuration, database /SAN replication methods and overall data center operations.

You’ll be responsible for the following activities:

  • Participate and guide Customer’s in consultative discussions, strategic planning sessions, DR IT assessments, analysis and tests, and provide C-Level reports.
  • Work with customers to assist in evaluation and transformation of current state to future state DR IT environments and data centers to improve resiliency and redundancy within and across customer data centers and cloud services.
  • Using and applying ITIL and DR standards, practices and methodologies in consideration to DR of IT services across all levels of the IT stack.
  • Coordinate on the conceptual and strategic designs and plans for infrastructure technology and cloud strategies and provide guidance to engineering and operations teams on technology standards, best practices and implementation patterns as it relates to DR.
  • Developing IT service related strategies, reference architectures, and technology road maps for IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service), DRaaS (Disaster Recovery as a Service), PaaS (Platform as a Service) and SaaS (Software as a Service) solutions across public, private and hybrid delivery models in support DR objectives.
  • Influencing and driving dynamic DR cloud and on-premise related capabilities, solutions and opportunities in coordination with engineering, operations and application development teams.
  • Translating business requirements into DR technology service availability based on providing strategic DR architected technical solutions, using cloud or internal technology offerings as appropriate.
  • Guiding engineering teams through end Enterprise Architecture governance processes and the development and documentation of prescribed technology stacks.
  • Collaborating with the global Enterprise Architecture community on enterprise solutions taking advantage of innovative cloud solutions, DevOps tools and infrastructure technologies.
  • Performing gap analysis of current state DR IT environments and data centers, identifying resiliency and continuity gaps and vulnerability between business recovery requirements and current IT service availability.
  • Documenting, writing, reporting and presenting on analysis findings, strategies, solutions and recommendations for improved DR IT service availability and resiliency.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in business continuity and/or disaster recovery planning.
  • Experience with architecting DR solutions involving one or more cloud service providers.
  • Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, IBM Softlayer or similar.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Five or more years of experience in a professional services consulting environment.
  • Experience with architectural technical solutions.
  • Ability to interact with business leaders of all levels.
  • Experience managing and setting expectations, managing escalations and negotiating resolutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at one time.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of professional services delivery methodology and the quality triggers that influence client satisfaction.
