What you’ll be doing...

This position is responsible for the proper operation of a large group of wireless Network Elements. The goal is to ensure the integrity of high availability network infrastructure to provide maximum performance for their customers. The Network – Systems Assurance Engineer is expected to be able to perform their duties with little supervision, and participate in cross-functional projects as scheduled. This position will also train existing System Assurance team members on system performance related tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee upgrades, improvements, testing and troubleshooting on voice and data network platforms.
  • Coordinate upgrades, improvements, optimization, testing, and troubleshooting of transmission facilities (fiber, Ethernet, OCn, T3, T1, and DSO).
  • Ensure system applications are at their peak performance.
  • Provide optimal customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Provide network support to a varied user community in multiple time zones.
  • Update daily logs with site-specific information.
  • Compose clear and concise reports for system documentation.
  • Become expert in wireless voice and data system applications, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.
  • Work and train comfortably in virtual environments (by phone, online, and video).
  • Responsible for the advanced installation, operation & maintenance of the data network elements, ensuring network integrity & quality at Mobile Switching Centers (MSCs) including building maintenance
  • These networks include but are not limited to LTE elements, routers, multilayer switches, & Ethernet backhaul
  • Responsible for troubleshooting, upgrading, administering these platforms & multiple vendor systems; maintaining system, element & platform applications; & providing support to a varied user community; updating daily logs with site-specific information, and composing clear & concise reports for system documentation.

    • Generators oversight and management
    • DSO / NNO / VZB support (P, PE, Brocade, Firewall, ISP links, EDN & COIN links, VCP, eNSE, MSE)
  • Expected to perform work with minimum supervision & participate in cross-functional projects, as scheduled.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including rotational On Call Duties, rotational nights and weekends as necessary.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Associate’s degree or two or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Office and Outlook.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • A valid driver’s license.

  • CCNA, CCENT, CCNP certifications.
  • Knowledge of LTE technologies, DAS equipment, Small Cell equipment, IP networking and VoLTE.
  • Knowledge of call processing (originations, handoffs) and data networking (switching/routing, TCP/IP).
  • Antenna design and propagation knowledge.
  • Knowledge of interference detection and correction techniques.
  • Two or more years of experience and electronics training in one or more of the following fields: Wireless Telecommunications, IP networking, System Performance / Network Analyst.
  • Knowledge of the following technologies and/ or platforms: voice cells infrastructure experience including: Lucent, Motorola, Nortel; LTE / CDMA data; telecom experience including: Ethernet backhaul, fiber optic testing / configuration, computer support experience including: PC hardware and configurations, troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Dark Fiber and CRAN concepts and operations.
  • Training in the following areas: data communications, digital communications, operating systems and applications, telecommunications, computer support, project management, and/or power.
  • Knowledge of IP networking including routing protocols and router interface and configuration.
  • Knowledge of data networking protocols including TCP/IUP, OSI, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, BFD, SIP, and other LAN/WAN protocols.
  • Knowledge of data transmission facilities such as 1G, 10G, 100G, native Ethernet, and SONET.
  • Programming and computer skills.
  • Experience in AC & DC power systems, HVAC, dark fiber, Nokia/Lucent CDMA, Ericsson LTE, Fuji DACS, Comverse Voicemail platforms, Linux, UNIX, OpenStack, Containers, and SDN/NFV.
