What you’ll be doing...

The Network Capital Analysis and Strategic Transformation team is hiring a strategic thinker to join a high profile, high visibility team that powers Network analytics and strategic thinking for Verizon. You will be part of a team that drives business decisions and optimized capital investment for the Verizon Wireless and Wireline Networks. That includes building tools, creating analyses, and discovering insights into our Networks that can be used to optimize our capital plan.

We create actionable operational and strategic insights as well as visualizations for senior leaders in the company across multiple organizations. You will be part of the team that shapes multi-billion dollar investments for the nation’s largest and best networks and guiding Verizon into future network investments. This is a job for an intelligent, decisive, quick, forward-thinking, strategic, and tactical thought leader. You have exceptional influencing skills and preferred experience working across areas and levels of an organization. Specifically this employee will be managing the global network & technology multi-year strategic network plan spanning across all of Verizon’s network technology domains.

For this role, you will leverage your network understanding to plan, build, & run the Global Network & Technology True North Plan (TNP). The TNP is the overarching Verizon network strategy that includes all long-term technical plans, KPIs, investments, and technologies Verizon intends on implementing in our network. You will work on creating C-Suite material tying all network segments with financial plans.

Responsibilities:

Business Intelligence:

  • Lead a large strategy team to develop and communicate Verizon’s network technology strategy
  • Analyze how emerging technologies will impact the Verizon Network
  • Communicate the strategic plan and KPIs to senior leadership and respective leads across the business
  • Deliver and maintain a strategic view of network evolution and convergence plans tied to rollout of the intelligent Edge Network. This requires interactions across multiple organizations to identify and document network technology, cost requirements, and savings benefits
  • Learn / understand new technologies and how they will impact Verizon (ie: 5G, SND, NFV, MEC)
  • Lead strategic efforts across the Network organization, leveraging advanced analytics to optimize processes and procedures that lead to improved Network KPIs, capital optimization and cost reduction
  • Create detailed scenario analyses merging strategic understanding and current program status with hypothetical program changes to understand impact of proposed changes to CapEx / OpEx spend required to support proposed changes.
  • Make business recommendations (e.g. cost-benefit, forecasting, experiment analysis) with effective presentations of findings at multiple levels of stakeholders through visual displays of quantitative information.
  • Define key success metrics and create dashboards / reports to communicate results and monitor KPIs.
  • Lead the creation of new data processes as identified through industry benchmarking and collaboration with Verizon's data scientist community.
  • Lead a large cross-functional team to create resource (Full Time Equivalent) models that support the Intelligent Edge Network, Network Transformation, OneFiber, & Business as usual activities

Cross Functional Collaboration:

  • Ability to manage many projects simultaneously, adapt to changing priorities and meet aggressive deadlines.
  • Become the in house expert for network & technical modeling questions, including familiarity with next-gen network architecture and applications.
  • Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to ensure data governance audit standards.
  • Train others in the organization on network strategies and performance metrics
  • Participate in cross-functional project teams as predictive modeling subject matter expert.

Executive Presentations:

  • Ability to analyze complex data sets, draw conclusions and relationships and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Effectively communicate actionable insights to category leads supporting their goals and objectives.
  • Prepare executive level presentations to clearly articulate results of complex mathematical analyses.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Willingness to travel upto approximately 25% of the time.
  • Experience on large scale network strategy and or planning.
  • Experience in network engineering of core and or access networks (wirieless or wireleine).
  • Experience in network planning of core and or access networks (wirieless or wireleine.
  • Experience in project managment.

Even better if you have:

  • MBA or Masters degree in computer science, computer engineering, statistics, operations research, industrial engineering, economics, mathematics, physics, or any discipline of engineering
  • Experience in network strategy
  • Experience in corporate consulting
  • High level of curiosity and investigative mind-set with an attention to detail
  • Ability to adapt to new challenges to overcome short-term hurdles by staying focused on the team’s deliverables
  • Capacity for quickly learning and using widely available tools and methodologies
  • Strong project and process management skills and ability to manage multiple competing projects/priorities.
