Roaming Operations FP&A

The Verizon Business Development Organization is looking for a dynamic individual to join the Roaming Operations team, as Manager of FP&A. The team is primarily responsible for decision support for Verizon Wireless’ Domestic and International Roaming teams, the Roaming Operations group and LTE in Rural America (LRA) team for financial and operational matters associated with about $1B in roaming related costs. Our mission is to return shareholder value, provide quality budget, forecasting and reporting support in an efficient digitally centric fashion. In addition, a key to our success is streamlining processes, provide our customers with insight to identify opportunities to reduce roaming cost and generate new revenue.

The Finance Manager of Roaming Operations is responsible for in‐depth analytical support and analysis for the roaming budgeting and forecasting of domestic and international roaming performance, along with financial support of the LRA program. You will gain an understanding of the roaming business, financial statements, financial analysis and performance drivers. Key job responsibilities include:

  • Working with the roaming operations teams to develop annual budget in a Zero Based Budgeting and Anaplan operating model, updating forecasts monthly, and producing monthly reporting to reflect the actual results over an extensive array of roaming metrics.
  • Providing oversight and financial support for the LTE in Rural America program to include: financial forecasting for customer counts, revenue and expense, net financial benefits, roaming savings, ensuring compliance with contractual term for lessees and Verizon, and ensuring the LRA participant billing and settlement is properly handled and accounted for.
  • Project Analysis – Developing advanced queries and manipulating large amounts of data to create end-to-end comprehensive financial analysis on inbound and outbound roaming traffic.
  • Functioning as Roaming Operations subject matter expert on cross-functional teams with projects of any degree of scope, and providing ad hoc analytical, operational or technical roaming operations support.
  • Assuring all roaming report and analysis requests related to roaming are fully supported, financially modeled and presentable for senior management.
  • Conducting regular meetings with various cross-functional leadership teams to discuss roaming needs.
  • Identifying optimal digital centric tools and methodologies to effectively communicate business results to our customers.
  • Preparing presentations in support of quarterly senior leadership meetings and various strategic committees of the company. Conducting special financial and business related analysis for area, regional and market level operational reviews as necessary.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, or Business Administration or related field or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint.

Even better if you have:

  • A Master's degree in Business Administration.
  • CPA, CFA, or CMA certification.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of roaming operations, reporting, and financial systems.
  • High degree of strategic and analytical capability, including the ability to analyze a large amount of data.
  • Extensive analytical and modeling skills – ability to review roaming financial results and provide meaningful analysis, ability to proactively identify key business issues and drivers, and provide recommendations to improve results.
  • Understanding of wireless industry trends and key business drivers.
  • Demonstrated technical and analytical skills.
  • Strong strategic skills, with the ability to identify and assess key points, implications and recommendations.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills and ability to focus on the details.
  • In depth knowledge of Verizon accounting and finance systems and applications (i.e., ZBB, Anaplan, Essbase/PMR, Data Warehouse/SQL Server, PeopleSoft).
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills – ability to organize, plan, and develop solutions to complex issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work and think independently, interpret and exercise professional judgment, and creatively problem solve.
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills – ability to accurately and creatively summarize analysis with relevant points for executive presentations and capability to communicate effectively with all levels of management.
  • Ability to effectively build strong working relationships at all levels of the organization and across functional groups.
  • Experience with Tableau and/or QlikView.
