What you’ll be doing...

You’ll be a Mainframe programmer (IBM z/OS) specializing in PLI in support of our enterprise electronic billing applications. You’ll leverage old and new technology to improve existing enterprise systems.

  • Design, code and test Mainframe (IBM z/OS) PLI and COBOL programs in an Agile DevOps environment
  • Debug code for existing programs
  • Troubleshoot system bugs and issues
  • Provide production support on multiple enterprise mainframe applications
  • Support efforts related to the integrity and confidentiality of sensitive information, including compliance initiatives to protect customer information
  • Guiding team members to design and implement optimal solutions for complex challenges to meet critical business needs.
  • Troubleshoot system and end-user issues to determine the root cause of the problem and define mitigation steps.
  • Ability to interpret complex requests & implement based on aggressive timelines.
  • Designing, evaluating and documenting application environments.
  • Monitoring key metrics and system health and quickly identifying and resolving problems.
  • Defining requirements, designing and developing automated monitoring and problem resolution capabilities.
  • Evaluate tasks, service level agreements, business need, urgency, and prioritize workload accordingly.
  • Collaborate with team members in a Scrum/Agile development environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Software development experience with emphasis on IBM z/OS mainframe development using PLI, and DB2

Even better if you have:

  • A degree
  • Relational database design and support
  • Advanced knowledge of COBOL, DB2, SQL, SPUFI, JCL, CLISTs, TSO, IDZ
  • Knowledge or experience with: Jira, Endeavor, MQ Series, Assembler, VSAM, Tibco MFT, Agile practices, Clarity, Web Services (REST, XML, SOAP, JSON)
  • Knowledge of Telecom OSS/BSS
  • Experience with agile development workflows
  • Proven Project Management and decisionmaking skills.
  • Ability to understand and convey complex technical information in simple terms
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
