What you’ll be doing...

  • Leadership – Manage, coach and motivate a high performing, globally focused team responsible for the strategic sourcing of Verizon’s core Technology products and services (Network equipment and infrastructure, Engineering, ISP and OSP engineering and construction).
  • Technical Expertise - Provide insights and direction in the implementation of sourcing solutions that drive Verizon shareholder value and optimize the customer experience.
  • Relationships – Manage external supplier relationships to deliver optimum value for Verizon; collaborate with key internal business partners to assess their needs and work with them on key initiatives to alignment between the business on deadlines and strategic factors.
  • Metrics – Define, integrate and drive large scale cost savings initiatives across the team in order to drive results across the entire footprint.
  • Leads various Cross Functional Teams (CFTs) to determine the business and technical requirements for large spend categories, drafts necessary language to translate business needs into requirements for contract related documents (i.e. Statements of Work (SOW) and/or Request for Proposals (RFPs) for distribution to Verizon’s Contract Managers and/or Suppliers
  • Drives all aspects of complex strategic sourcing process including but not limited to taking lead on contract negotiations of business and pricing terms and conditions, conducting research and providing benchmark data on pricing and/or other key terms and conditions, facilitating RFP’s, and working with the internal business partners to develop negotiations strategy, objectives and plans
  • Provide direction and leadership to their individual team of Sourcing Specialists in support of business initiatives that provide operational efficiencies to Verizon and optimize the customer experience
  • Responsible for workload balancing of Sourcing Request Forms (SRF)s and/or other Sourcing requirements from internal Business Stakeholders in order to ensure that support matches the needs of the business
  • Effectively manage supplier relationships, while maintaining positive relationships and providing superior service to the internal business partners
  • Integrate large scale cost savings initiatives across the team in order to drive results across the entire footprint
  • Collaborate with Key Business Partners to assess their needs on an ongoing basis and work closely with them on key initiatives to ensure alignment between the teams on deadlines, and/or other important strategy factors
  • Stays current with industry trends and ensures that their team is current on individual Product & Service Stream trends for their assigned category area. Acts as a Trusted Advisor to Key Business Partners.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Telecom Engineering or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in contract negotiations to include business, price and technical terms.
  • Experience in Strategic Sourcing and/or Contract Management.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Six or more years of experience in contract management or sourcing position.
  • Experience managing teams.
  • RFP experience.
  • Experience leading or participating in Cross Functional Teams (CFT).
  • Knowledge of Strategic Sourcing processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Experience in data analysis & supplier assessment.
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience developing resolutions to complex problems that require the frequent use of creativity.
  • Experience in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Project Management in complex multi-project and multi-geography environment.
  • Ability to solve complex problems to ensure business and financial issues result in sound decisions.
  • Critical thinking skills and work independently to make business decisions.
  • Experience in drafting contract documents for the establishment of business content elements (i.e., Statements of Work (SOW))
  • Strong interpersonal and client service skills.
  • Strong team leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Self-motivated /self-starter with ability to work independently.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with experience in influencing others.
