We are looking for candidates that share our passion for tackling complexity head-on, to collaborate cross-functionally and work on some of the biggest data science projects in the company. As a Technical Program Manager, you will play a key role within the Enterprise, building collaboration, and influencing strategic direction. Data Science at Verizon is evolving so being entrepreneurial and a self-starter is important to be a successful Technical Program Manager. The position is highly visible and requires frequent interaction with SVP and VP leaders across Global Technology and partner organizations.

Key Functions:

  • Manage cross-functional data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence programs in a matrix organization covering a range of areas.
  • Develop and manage end-to-end project plans and ensure on-time delivery.
  • Provide hands-on program management during analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and post-implementation phases.
  • Perform risk management and change management on projects.
  • Provide day-to-day coordination and quality assurance for projects and tasks.
  • Drive internal and external process improvements across multiple teams and functions.
  • Interface with Engineering and business owners for project requirements and scope.
  • Help drive product decisions to align with higher company initiatives.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science or related technical field.
  • Experience with creating end-to-end data science solutions and knowledge with the data science process. From data cleaning and exploratory data analysis to model monitoring and deployment to production.
  • Strong program and project management capabilities with success leading large, complex initiatives.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to communicate with employees at all levels of the company.
  • Experience and interest in current and future technologies.
  • Knowledge with project management and collaboration tools such as Confluence, Jira, Microsoft Project, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to package and sell ideas to all levels of management and across organizations.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Project management or agile certification.
  • Knowledge of Verizon’s network and network architecture.
  • Coding experience with big data technologies including libraries and packages used for data exploration, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.
