What you’ll be doing...

This position will report to the Director – End to End FP&A Systems and Financial Data Strategy. The role will Serve as single point of contact and escalation for all monthly close activities in the Financial Systems. Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Manage team of 6 direct reports with over 30 employees accountable for systems that enable financial consolidations and reporting, master data change management, ticket resolutions, release management and system operations and infrastructure.
  • Ensure system availability and stability to the Finance community to guarantee successful month end close activities. Provide Tier 1 & 2 help desk support for financial issues, driving strategies to align with corporate issue management processes and systems.
  • Provide day to day operational support for month end close which includes developing and monitoring job execution, responding to outages; providing 24x7 support for critical monthly financial reporting windows.
  • Provide ongoing management and support of data and hierarchy changes in our ERP systems Consolidation systems, and our financial reporting environments utilizing the established change control platforms.
  • Coordinate impact analysis and regression testing of financial close systems due to initiatives driven by groups both internal and external to Finance.
  • Coordinate all activities related to monthly system releases including coordination of data restatements, test case evidence and production migration activities.
  • Drive execution of upgrades and enhancements to existing applications while ensuring alignment with corporate strategy.
  • Execute on key IT initiatives such as the migration to AWS cloud reducing cost and increasing efficiency.
  • Ensure system compliance to all security and legal requirements by conducting quarterly SOX audit reviews on the servers and the database to be compliant with CPI 810. Certify that systems are built on the foundation of the DevOps and DevSecOps IT models.
  • Identify the hardware / software capacity and procure the needed hardware / storage to keep the systems scaled appropriately, employ the necessary upgrades to the software stack, plan and execute vulnerability mitigation across the system landscape.
  • Provide strategic data management direction and master data blueprinting decisions across larger Verizon to enable successful implementation of 1ERP, ensuring that data conforms to Finance’s standards, common definitions and falls under governance control.
  • Partner with the business and technical delivery teams for successful transition from legacy to strategic systems such as migration HFM to 1ERP BPC, as well as migration to best in class analytic platforms.
  • Manage large teams of consultants and employees, including directing cross functional teams.
  • Lead selection process for external project support and sets direction for providers.
  • Motivate and manage team using effective communication and leadership.
  • Identify and organize required external support (Verizon & Third Party).
  • Provide executive communication and updates to senior management.
  • Identify and implement process improvements while leveraging Verizon solutions and staff.
  • Mentor and develop team members to thrive in a transformation environment.
  • Support and champion the GTS Transformation and associated projects and programs.
  • Be responsible for Sarbanes-Oxley, internal and external audit requests relating to Financial Systems and Monthly Change Controls.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in General Ledger & Financial Reporting knowledge.
  • Experience in multidimensional analysis, designing Essbase applications and dimensions, data load, calculation and aggregation techniques experience.

  • A degree.
  • Program/project manager on several large system implementations with large and diverse teams.
  • Experience in taking a company forward in a fast growth environment, providing insight for direction and managing change effectively.
  • Proven success managing Corporate Systems(Finance, Supply Chain, HR) projects / programs.
  • Proven success managing large, dynamic teams in a fast paced environment.
  • Exposure to Oracle Hyperion System 9 or Oracle Hyperion suite version 11 installation, configuration, maintenance, support and development experience with at least 2 full cycle implementations.
  • Experience in at least 1 full cycle Hyperion suite upgrade/new implementation.
  • Experience driving complex teams / programs to common process, planning, procedure, statusing, etc.
  • Ability to manage and implement Corporate systems and demonstrate working knowledge of those systems.
  • Strong exposure to Oracle Database RAC, DRM.
  • Strong knowledge of IT development processes and SDLC skills.
  • Hands on and pragmatic approach to business, processes and user needs.
  • Strong customer focus and ability to recognize impact of decisions on end users.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communications skills and ability to interact with team members and external customers.
  • Strong presentation skills to all levels of management; capability to communicate complex concepts in a manner that is understood by audience.
  • Ability to prioritize efforts and tasks in a high volume and fast paced environment.
