What you’ll be doing...

The Managing Director is accountable for driving growth across the Advanced Solutions portfolio within the Public Sector market. The leader is the architect of the overall Public sector strategy. This strategy should position Verizon for growth by placing Verizon ahead of the regulatory environment, positioning Verizon to be in contract with key Federal, Local, state agencies, and higher education institutions. The leader will become part of the Public sector ecosystem by networking, developing key relationships, and promoting the Verizon brand across the full spectrum of Public Sector constituents. The key product areas include Security, Advanced Communications, and professional services. The Director will be expected to provide the business with strategic vision, technical and industry knowledge, and program and process development for selling complex solutions that will drive incremental product and service bookings.

The Director will be responsible for coaching and leading a high performing team of sales managers and representatives to identify, qualify, and close on technical solutions for top accounts, as this is a quota carrying role. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading a team of sales managers and representatives to drive technical sales as a technical overlay function to enterprise accounts
  • Developing talent to a consistent and high level of technical competency, which includes creating learning forums that leverage internal tools and resources
  • Creating and driving the effective use of programs, tools, processes, and best practices into the team and field sales teams
  • Managing and supporting deal strategy, structure, and approval process in collaboration with sales field, customer service, solution engineering, sales operation, etc.
  • Facilitating a sales approach that moves from a Verizon-focused communication to a customer-focused communication
  • Partnering with Verizon Enterprise account sales leadership to help develop and qualify global technical solution sales opportunities
  • Mapping customers identified business issues to Verizon Security and Advanced Comms solutions; identifying (Verizon’s or customers) barriers to sale; identifying and coordinating Verizon Security and Advanced Comms internal resources required to develop customer solution

What we’re looking for...

  • Working knowledge and experience selling complex technology solutions to large enterprise customers
  • Must have experience selling solutions in the Public Sector space, and an understanding of the competitive landscape
  • Ability to develop account plans and strategies
  • Understanding of sales cycles, with a unique ability to accelerate sales
  • Must possess demonstrated leadership responsibilities and experience
  • Proven experience influencing senior level business executives
  • Strong leadership skills with ability to develop and manage virtual sales teams
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and professionally (verbal and written) with customers and interface with a variety of organizations
  • Strong time management, organizational, and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrate sound business decision-making skills
  • Program management experience
  • Financial management experience
  • Awareness of Verizon product and service sales field organizations, processes, and drivers
