What you’ll be doing...

Join our Information Technology team where you will work on new technologies and find ways to meet our customers’ needs and make it easy for them to do business with us. You will regularly lead multiple small to medium-size projects and perform project management activities such as planning, sizing, configuring and scheduling. You will develop resolutions to complex problems creatively and make decisions that impact projects & staff members.

We are looking for aLead System Administrator to support key applications, many of them considered critical in maintaining, provisioning, and monitoring Verizon’s global network. Candidate will play a key role in all new departmental initiatives while continuing to ensure the availability/stability of existing functionality.

This position is in a team of engineers, which provides 7x24 support in test/prod environments. The candidate is mainly responsible for maintaining highly visible production systems. Immediate participation in an active on call rotation required.

Candidate must be well-versed in operational support systems and the role they play in providing outstanding network support. He or she will have to keep abreast of new features and technical trends within the industry and be able to successfully communicate and apply those with application counterparts.

Responsibilities:

  • Performing application support on large 3rd party Operation Support Systems.
  • Performing routine maintenance on geo-diverse systems.
  • Proficient troubleshooting network issues related to OSS connected devices.
  • Proactively seeking solutions to improve application performance & efficiency, and reduce time on repetitive tasks through automation.
  • Teamwork & collaboration skills to work across organizations and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Communication & stakeholder management skills.
  • Providing mentoring to other team members on multiple facets.
  • Initiating and reacting to all security matters related to Verizon’s CPI-810 standard.
  • Forecast and plan the expansion of systems and construct technical business cases.
  • Discover mutually beneficial solutions across customers while recognizing different styles.

What we’re looking for...

You will need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree in Information Systems; Masters in Computer Science or related field.
  • Knowledge of VOS and UNIX based systems, and experience troubleshooting applications running on these systems.
  • Knowledge of transport technology and the role in the network.
  • Performing routine care and deployment of Linux based systems in a virtual infrastructure.
  • Programming Language(s): Unix and Shell Scripting, C, Perl, CGI and HTML.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience of cross-functional teams.
  • Communication & stakeholder management skills.
  • Problem solving skills to develop quick yet sound solutions to resolve complex issues.
  • Experience with Ericsson Suite of systems is a plus.
