What you’ll be doing...

Lead and manage an experienced team of RF Design Engineers in the New York Metro Market. Staff, train, and develop the team as necessary. Oversee the optimal design of the 4G and 5G radio frequency networks including, but not limited to, new macro cell sites, outdoor DAS nodes, inbuilding systems, and small cells. Develop existing site modifications & designs including but not limited to carrier additions, RET, 4x4MIMO, and power upgrades to ensure Verizon Wireless meets its customer promises as measured by our KPI targets. Drive the team to proactively conduct long term planning to ensure long lead time solutions are consistently being implemented by your peer organizations. Ensure network performance maintains consistency with changing requirements and needs of the business.


Lead the RF Design team to meet these responsibilities:

  • Resolve system design faults
  • Develop designs for new cells and provide for a smooth new cell integration process
  • Support Verizon interdepartmental requirements in various technical and construction related projects
  • Insure smooth integration of new services and technologies into network
  • Prepare new cell site translations and integration efforts - ensure accuracy & timeliness
  • Administer & implement RF Safety regulations
  • Perform reviews and recommendation on build plan requirements to resolve capacity and coverage challenges
  • Initiate and manage periodic radio additions to support system growth
  • Identify and implement system modifications to improve service quality including; antenna system, system parameter, and software changes
  • Support various requests for information and analysis from other teams – Sales, HQ, Finance, etc.
  • Support the resolution of customer trouble tickets
  • Manage network radio equipment to meet growth requirements
  • Attend and support site zoning meetings and community forums
  • Perform RF Design tests and evaluate vendor recommendations
  • Lead in the issuing and management of RFDS and CQ’s for system growth and optimization via redesign and antenna system modernization
  • Manage all available spectrum accordingly while planning for future spectrum as well
  • Support meeting required performance objectives, such as accessibility, retainability, latency, and throughput
  • Conduct site evaluations utilizing propagation tools and simulation tests
  • Coordinate and maintain FCC / FAA regulatory documentation with our Regulatory group
  • Coordinate with Engineering on the evaluation and implementation of new Search Areas
  • Manage the issuing of new Search Areas to develop the required capacity and coverage of the network and manage the prioritization of these search areas
  • Manage the design and evolution of the 4G and 5G networks utilizing RF engineering techniques.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience
  • Knowledge of LTE technology and in one or more of the following platforms: CDMA, EVDO, HSPA+/GSM technology
  • Knowledge of voice and data wireless infrastructurefor Nokia (fALU) or Ericsson
  • Knowledge of the following operating systems and applications: Windows, propagation modeling tools (such as GeoPlan, ATOLL), post-processing tools (such as WindCatcher and ActixOne), Google Earth, and MapInfo, MS Office
  • Knowledge of RF system optimization techniques for Nokia (fALU) or Ericsson infrastructure
  • Knowledge of RF engineering concepts and principles, including antenna and RF theory and propagation modeling
  • Knowledge with traffic engineering principles.
  • Willingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Management experience
  • Knowledge with 5G
  • Knowledge with test equipment, including DataPro, pilot scanners, spectrum analyzers and sweep/PIM equipment.
  • Knowledge in digital communications including ethernet backhaul, fiber optics, and microwave.
  • Strong leadership capabilities including
    • understanding changes in the marketplace and the impact on our business
    • strategic goal and priority setting for the team
    • ability to build, maintain and motivate a strong team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Aptitude, innovation and desire to learn and advance in a changing technical field
  • Capality of continual commitment to all company goals and objectives and the ability to focus the team members on those objectives
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends as necessary.
