What you’ll be doing...

You’ll focus on network maintenance, leading network support for operations and engineering, and providing technical leadership and expert consultation for Red Hat OS, OpenStack, resource orchestration, hardware infrastructure, and all associated tools related to cloud computing. You’ll play a key role in supporting physical network equipment and power and space implementation in the nation’s largest, most reliable network.

Primary responsibilities:

  • 3rdshift Maintenance support
    • On demand system maintenance.
    • Scheduled changes to active systems.
    • Request for service tickets.
  • Vendor management and coordination
    • Schedule and support vendors’ onsite.
    • Provide vendor management of transport cabling, equipment installation, and overall support.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently
    • Senior Program management.
    • Senior Technical Project management skillset.
  • Data Center methodologies and operational support experience
    • Experience with Enterprise large scale data centers.
    • Carrier class support.
  • Server side support –
    • Large scale carrier class server side support.
    • Windows server 2008 – 2012 R2 – Advanced knowledge.
    • VMWare - familiarity.
    • Redhat - familiarity.
    • Ubuntu - familiarity.
    • Physical server support and installation.
  • Power Management and Operations
    • PDU familiarity.
    • RPP familiarity.
  • Building operations
    • Chiller technologies.
    • Generator familiarity.
    • 2N+1
    • Security systems support.
  • Strong Layer 1 support
    • Including test and turn up of new circuits 10gig-100gig services.
  • On-call support
    • Night and weekend support.
  • Strong Documentation skillset
    • Change Control.
    • Method of Procedure.
    • Ticketing system support.
    • Single line drawings.
  • Finance
    • Budget management.
    • Capital and operational expenditures.
  • Coordination with cross-functional teams
    • Positive engagement with multiple internal and external groups to manage and coordinate all aspects of activities to accomplish business goals on system growth.
    • Effectively engage with vendors, system administrators, and network personnel to resolve system performance issues timely and efficiently.

What we’re looking for...

You will need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Experience with Red Hat Linux, Ubuntu Openstack, Virtualization (VKM).
  • Experience with hardware production support for DELL enterprise systems.
  • Experience with hardware configuration for DELL enterprise systems.
  • Experience with hardware production support for Cisco, Juniper, Nokia, F5 and A10 enterprise systems.
  • Knowledge of function and physical layer connection (Layer 1) of routers, multilayer switches, load balancers, firewalls, and associated network infrastructure.
  • Administration of access, database, maintenance of virtual server application.
  • Expert level knowledge on the OSI 7-layer protocol.
  • Experience with network automation and deployment methods, managing data center elements, hardware, software, and power requirements, and overseeing vendors.
